I have a fractured vertebrae (L5) and from there down
all disks are split or squeezed. I wear a corset with
steel rods on the back side as I am too old for surgery
(69) and if anything hurts, this one is champion!
The doctor gave me pain killers which I found had more
bad side effects than any good, so I do not take anything. All I do is need a cane only to keep in
balance when walking. Remember that any
medication has side effects on the kidneys, so I
strongly advise the lesser the medication all the
better. You can stand more pain than you think. Try
thinking about "no pain" and you will be doing
yourself a favour.

It really depends on the person they could rely on pain killers all the time wether they feel pain or not. A normal person who is not addicted rely on pain killers after surgery or if they have some sort of pain that can not be fixed.

I personally do not rely on pain killer except for acute pain like headaches or sprain of an ankle. For chronic pain I would recommend seeing a physician to see if there is someting physiologically wrong and may require more extensive care to fix instead of masking with pain killers. They can also be dangerous, in the sense that pain is the body's response to trauma and tells us to stop, slow down, or seek treatment. If you mask this response you could cause more damage.
Hope this helps

I rely on pain killers when I feel pain. Usually after a visit to the dentist!

Once a month when my period comes around. Right now I'm pregnant though, and I can't take anything other than Tylenol (which doesn't do much!) So I don't rely on any painkillers at the moment.

Everyday, more than once a day, but I am disabled with, query lupus. I cannot take anti-inflammatories so pain killers are my only relief. Not everyone who takes pain killers is an addict!!

Every day. I take 8 co-codamol. If I need extra top up, I can resort to the morphine, up to 3 a day or Oramorph liquid. Pain from bone cancer is pretty awful.
How about you?

once you bypass for a colonoscopy in a lot of circumstances you aren't getting drugs before except you're fairly anxious, then they could bypass ahead & provide you with some Ativan, Xanax, or Valium pre op. once you bypass from the stretcher to the table (you proceed to be totally coated with the sheet so no individual sees your "hoo-ha" ), they provide you with anesthesia by the IV & you bypass at present to sleep. once you awaken after there is not in a lot of circumstances any discomfort from the try. they could provide you with any type of those drugs, yet they are fairly large because you bypass correct off. (anectine is one they typically use).they are imparting you with sedation, not discomfort killers even as they do it.
