Hubby is....for the last 18 years. We personally don't know anyone that's been singled out for any reason. However, I feel my hubby is given too many duties because he's reliable. That's a good thing though. Maybe you heard wrong or there was a good reason behind it that you don't know of.

I am a soldier currently serving in the Royal Engineers, having served ten years in the Army i can see where your question may have come from. People do get singled out for some very good reasons. It doesn't generally have anything to do with race more a case of ability. People in the Army(myself included) believe they are there to protect British interests home and abroad and that to fulfil this duty one must be of a certain ilk. Weakness is generally singled out, emotionally and physically. It is the pillar of the forces and must be eroded by letting 'weak' people into its folds.

I am retired Army and in this regard, the Army is no different from any other job simply because the Army is it's people and people are flawed. There are as many reason for this as there are people.

If it happens to you, there are lots of ways to resolve the issue. Talk to the person, find out what the problem is. If that doesn't work, use the chain of command. If that doesn't work, try transferring. If that doesn't work, just wait, one of you will eventually move on to somewhere else. That's one of the good and bad sides to the Army, if you work with a jerk, it's always temporary. Of course, you're best friends can be temporary as well.

I was in the Army and what I experienced was the Buddy-Buddy System. If your mate is in trouble help him and as for bullying, it was never the extreme it is now. We were trained as a fighting unit who trusted and worked together to win battles.

Maybe I was fortunate, or maybe things have escalated out of control, but they're was a definate sense of unity then as compared to now. I do however, think they should bring back National Service, I thought I would never echo my fathers words. But the bullies on the streets now have nothing to do but think they're hard, well put them into the army and they just might get the shock of their lives.

I wqqould have liked to be an Army Chaplain, because I am a Born-Again-Christian, but I was dissillutioned by many Army Pastors, although I came across some really good ones also. In which they would invite me to there homes and give me spiritual guidance. Believe me when you know God is on your side, Christ is in you, the Holy Spirit directs you as to what is right and what is wrong and the whole Word of God becomes alive as the Holy Spirit gives you wisdom and understanding. I realise now, one life killed is one too many.....!

I had near death experiences in the Army and in Civilian Life and I would not be alive if it were not for the Power of God. I wouldn't go back in the army, but I do think they should bring back National Service.

I was in the army and my husband currently is now. you get singled out if you are a **** bag and don't do what you are told or you fail at being a soldier in all.
best way not to be singled out is to stay out of trouble and do your job well and keep yourself and your areas (living and work) clean.

Singled out is hardly the word for what they do to you in basic training. Obviously, you are either looking to get in or you are in and waiting for your ship date. All that you need to know about basic training is that they can't kill you, they can't hit you, they really can't even cuss at you unless you go to Fort Stewart or Fort Benning. They don't really "single out" anyone, trust me everyone gets their fair share of the blame and it really doesn't matter if you are singled out or not because no matter if you make the mistake or someone else in your platoon or sometimes company makes a mistake you are all paying for it.

People do get singled out quite often, usually its because of their attitude. I was lucky enough to gain the respect of my CO within my first few months so I wasn't signled out to much but a lot of people in my squadron were but it was mainly because they had no respect for authority.

I was in the Army 6 years, If you are sensitive about something, being too tall, short, fat, skinny, black, white, from New York, Muskogee, you will be picked on because your petty sensitivities are weakness and you need to get past it.
Just learn to have thick skin or ignore it
