I found the sun clears mine up better than any thing else. I asked a skin specialist at the hospital if it would be a good idea to use a sunbed and he said NO!
The hospital have special sunbeds, which filter out a lot of the rays which cause harm, but give a concentrated dose of the rays that do good - unlike a normal sunbed. The same rays are emitted from a standard sunbed, but they are not controlled.
A friend of mine took the sunbed treatment at the hospital and it worked fantastic for him. Unfortunately, like everything I've tried, once the treatment stops, the psoriasis comes back.
I've found the best way of keeping mine under control is to bath every day or two for about an hour. Rub as much excess skin off as possible in the bath and apply Hemp Cream from the body shop librally to the effected areas.
An easier but more expensive way is just to drink a bottle of Willow Water every day. Someone told my g/f about the willow water and she nagged me till I tried it, begrudgedley. I was amazed at the results.
My mother suffered with it for years and saw a skin specialist every 2 weeks for years. They gave her hundreads of different pills, creams and potions, none of which seemed to work. She eventually cleared it with a prescription called Keralyte Gel. (I may have spelled it wrong) She's been clear now for about 15 years. The same cream had no effect on me.
It seems different things work for different people. If you can get the sunbed treatment at the hospital, take it. It seems to give the best results for the people I've spoken too. Willow water's great aswell. You can get it from Waitrose, some Sainsbury's, Health food shops or order in bulk online. (Google Willow Water)
I hope you find a cure soon.
Good Luck!

I had a 13 year history of psoriasis, though I was in good health otherwise. But these severe large, thick and scaly excoriated plaques on my neck, ears, trunk and limbs ruined the way I was leading my life. I would be with red, inflamed itchy skin for most part of the year and these silvery scales would seem to be erupting without any reason. To make matters worse, blisters would appear over already red and itching skin. It was living hell.
I was treated with various options but nothing seemed to be working. Some of the treatments that I underwent in this depressing period of 13 years included tar preparation, tropical steroids and anthralin. I was also given light therapy many times but everything I tried would give me temporary relief.
And soon, after a few days I would be plagued with the situation again. In one of those moments when I was completely lost I stumbled upon this website just by chance. I read it and felt that as if someone had put the story my life on this web page. I was thoroughly convinced that if ANYONE can cure me of condition, it would be you.
And was I right, or what. I started recovering within 3 days of starting this treatment. Something that had become a painful part of me for 13 years was actually getting healed! My ears are healed and my neck is smooth again!. I am a month into the treatment and I have never felt better in my life!

That is very true. However, with any type of exposure to sunlight, it can eventually turn harmful to your skin, so it should be done in moderation.
My dermatologist also advised me that certain tanning boothes, if calibrated correctly, can also act as sunlight for healing psoriasis.
I currently use Dermazinc, which is a spray, and it works wonders for me. It's not as greasy or slick as most gels that I have tried in the past, and it can be used on the body as well as the scalp.
If you have not seen your doctor/dermatologist about psoriasis yet, I would highly suggest going soon. There are many treatments out there that weren't available 10 years ago that can help you control the problem. Besides the creams, sprays and ointments, there are also pills that can be taken and a shot (though the shot requires visits to the doctor to get them, and usually 3 times a week)
I would also advise checking out http://www.webmd.com and just searching for Psoriasis on that web site. There is a lot of good reading about the problem there.
EDIT: Yes, hospitals can help.

I was diagnosed with psoriasis at age 14 and now I am 36 years old. You can say that I have tried just about every medicine both approved by FDA and trial without much success. Examples include Enbrel, Humira, oral meds, creams, oils, salts, coal tar, etc and the list is much more extensive that I can't even remember all of the names. But recently after someone shared this video https://tr.im/CuresPsoriasisECUI everything has changed. My psoriasis completely cleared by putting these changes in place. I only wish I'd taken photos of before and after because it truly has been miraculous. I am getting married in Oct, 2015 and I am wearing a strapless gown that also shows my back and I am confident (not like before) that my skin will be soft and pretty vs red and flakey.

Cure psoriasis starting today - even if your doctor or dermatologist says "it's impossible!"
I've just followed a guide called psoriasis free for life that completely cured me of this debilitating and embarrassing disease in less than a month!
Remember, this will not only treat the symptoms that you do see:
the red, inflamed itchy skin.
The silvery scales that seem to erupt for no reason.
The burning or bleeding that occurs around your joints.
The cracking, oozing and painful patches on your skin.
But it also treats the underlying cause of psoriasis - the part you don't see - the actual immune system deficiency that causes these itchy patches to appear and scale over.
For more information, check here : http://Psoriasis.naturallysaver.com .
You can definitely get back your life, your confidence and your self esteem!

It does in some cases. My partner has terrible psoriasis all over his body- particularly bad on arms & legs. He uses sun beds which obvioulsy use UV light and this always reduces it. I also have eczema and i know that UV light is also used to treat extreme cases of that too.
Sunlight works for clearing both Psoriasis and Eczema and sunlight contains UV's so it would make sense.

Yes, the light from tanning beds does help most people. There are also special uv booths that put out a more specific wavelength of uv that targets psoriasis better than the standard tanning bed. If you have health insurance visits to booths like this are sometimes covered, although they are hard to find sometimes.

Not sure about that but since moving to the Canary Islands where there is year round sunshine my wife's Psoriasis has gone completely even from the soles of her feet.
Unfortunately the Psoriatic rheumatism has not gone but even that is much easier.
