You sound as angy as Get-em Gang...Must be contagious?
There was something wrong with the original pair, as they veered from AKC standards...That'something wrong', won't always show up right away, but WILL eventually show up in the deteriorating health of the smaller dogs..Most commonly thyroid, pancreas and kidney malfunctions..
In our town there is a breeder, who breeds 'teacup' sized Maltese.. I take care of several of them (ones she has sold) in the doggy day care...They are all on daily medications, from about 4 years and older...2 are diabetic, so require twice daily insulin shots..and, of course the diabetes has caused cataracts..
Your neighbor is selling heartaches, wrapped in puppy clothing..

It's not that they don't exist, they are simply misnamed. They are not "toy" schnauzers, they are undersized miniature schnauzers.
According to the American Miniature Schnauzer Club:
"IS THERE SUCH A THING AS A ‘TOY’ SCHNAUZER
In a word, NO. There is no recognized breed called the ‘Toy Schnauzer’ or ‘Micro-Mini’. The breed was developed to be a smaller version of the Standard Schnauzer, but not so small as to be a toy breed. Some commercial breeders are producing Miniature Schnauzers that are less than 10” tall. This is a disqualification according to the breed standard. Sometimes the term ‘Toy’ is used to describe them. The ‘Toy’ Schnauzer is not a separate breed; it is simply an undersized Miniature Schnauzer. Serious breeders breed to preserve the breed as it was intended by its originators."

They are most likely Miniature Schnauzers - people often get confused on dog breed's names. If I had a nickel for every time someone told me their Miniature Pinscher was a 'mini Doberman Pinscher' or their yellow Labrador Retriever was a 'golden Lab', I would be rich.
p.s. just a short lesson to clear up these other common confusions: the Golden Retriever is a breed, the Labrador Retriever is a breed - that comes in the colors yellow, chocolate & black. The German Pinscher is a breed, and other related breeds derived from it are the Doberman Pinscher & Miniature Pinscher - the Miniature does not come from the Doberman.

At this point, the Toy Schnauzer is not a recognized breed, but are simply toy-sized Miniature Schnauzers.
There is a push to have the toy recognized as it's own breed, but this takes several years and a panel to determine what the breed standards should be.

AKC is very choosy about what breeds they allow to be registered. Toy versions of dogs are viewed as faults because they are too small for the standard. They exist, but AKC doesn't want them registered. You have to remember, a toy dog is bred from genetically stunted (migets) from the origional breed. This can cause other, more serious, genetic issues in the future.

Like the others said, they are miniature schnauzers. A miniature sounds smaller anyway so why are you upset?

Because your neighbor believes that one yapping noisy small dog just isn't enough, but a dozen makes almost enough noise... yikes, 12 mini schauzers, my aunt used to raise them, the bark level at that house was so bad no one wanted to go see her, ever.
On the plus side, no one could break in without the whole block knowing about it.. :)
