I have hypothroidism. About 3 times a week, I drink Rockstar or Monster energy drink. this is usually on the days when I haven't had much sleep. Well, the other day my tsh level went up. So, now I am changing from Levothyroxin 150mcg to 175mcg. A friend at work said that I need to stay away from the energy drinks because they are not good for me. Aren't they just high caffiene content drinks?

You should talk to your doctor before drinking these types of drinks. If your energy levels are low then you need to talk to him about how you can boost your energy levels without these drinks. These drinks are loaded with nothing but sugar most of the time. Your friend is right they are not the best way to boost your energy. You need to go to bed at a decent time each night so that you will not wake up tired. Especially with a thyroid problem. You have to take good care of yourself.

It does not affect the TSH level, just a huge dose of caffeine.
