take him to the store and try the clothes on him. Then stick to that brand with that sie cause you kow it fits. Just cause it says 4 and your kid is 4 doesn't mean he has to wear 4. I was like 8 and still wearing 6's. So put what fits on him, not what the size says.

I think the best thing is to find which brand works. At that size they have an overlap in the sizing- you can find some things in the infant section (where u find the T's) and other things in the big boy section, unfortunately clothing is not always going to fit right no matter what age, I have found after three children that buying things that are too big is not as bad as buying too small.... just have some pins and needle n thread to take up where things arent working. Its somethin parents dont do as much as in the past but it helps

Buy what fits and don't worry too much about the sizes. My daughter will be 3 in December and she is wearing 18 months bottoms and 2T tops. Besides you've probably figured out by now that the same size in different brands comes out as really different sizes.

my daughter is 4. She's in a 4T...4's are usually first kid sizes (out of toddler) Maybe just buy 4T and wash them and hope they shrink up to fit him, or try on 3Ts. I know every store's kids sizes seem to fit my daughter differently. I just go to Old Navy because I know their size 4T will fit my daughter.
If I go to Walmart or Toys R Us, their 4T's don't fit my daughter.

My son is 4 also and is tall but has not waist or behind. I buy a "4 slim"... It is not in the toddler section, it is where the regular 4's are.

well if 4T is too big then 4 if definately not going to fit. 4 is slightly larger. i would say try to buy the tops and pants seperate, you may have to buy two different sizes

Try the clothes on him. Buy whatever size fits. All kids are shaped differently, just like adults. You gotta figure out what works for the individual.

Try the Childrens Place...almost everything is adjustable. Most kids never are true to size with clothing. My oldest daughter was tall and skinny and always wore 2 sizes bigger then her age but my youngest, who is 8 still wears a 6X/7 in pants.

yes, within time he will grow into in. He might even have a growth spur and go right to a size 5t. I used to work at babygap and gap kids where i know they carry the adjustable waist and for now you might have flip over the bottoms.

Doesn't it make sense to go for 3 if 4 is too big or am I missing something? Unless 3 is too small. Some stores run small and others run big. I find that Gap runs small.
