Some people said the proper pronounciation is 'Nei', yet in the Hong Kong dramas, you see the actors mouthing 'Lei'.

"Nei" is the correct pronunciation. When spoken fast or if one has not been properly taught, the word may indeed sound like "Lei". Re: HK actors....they may not have been properly schooled in the first place. Anyhow, in most instances, both sounds are understood by native speakers.

Just a hint, maybe the the movie was "dubbed" with the Cantonese audio track, and the original film was a different dialect.

'ni' is mandarin
