A friend asked me this, and although my gut reaction was "no", I really don't know.

Any more info on this "Women's Tour"?

Actually, Le Grande Boucle means the big loop. And there is a male and female tour, as the previous answerers noted. It too is the biggest race of the year for women's cycling and also, like the mens tour, showcases the legends of the sport.

You are correct- there has never been a woman competitor in the Tour de France. There is a separate division for women. The race is called La Grade Boucle Féminine Internationale and takes place later in the year. (Translates to The Women's Grand Bicycle Tour) The course is shorter and usually doesn't have as much challenging terrain as the men's does.

No. I don't think so. The following link will provide information on women's cycling. It sounds like women typically use "men's" events to train, but don't compete to win.

No, it would be too distracting.. The other riders would be watching her honey-buns and would be waiting in line to sniff the bicycle seat.
