I think you may mean TrueType, just drag and drop the font in the Fonts folder in Control Panel.

Start>Control panel>Fonts

Now the font will be available in word.

When you are on the first page of your document. Set your page up and then click the drop down menu with the fonts and a list of fonts will come up. Choose the one you want and the size, etc. and take from there.

It simple: Copy your fonts into the \Windows\Fonts directory and it's going to work.
Another option is to get some Font managing software, e.g. Adobe Font Folio but it's not worth it because you just complicate an extremely simple task :)
