The celebrating of the birth of Jesus on 25th of December is quite a strange custom and was it is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible that Jesus ever celebrated His birthday, nor did God command us to celebrate the day of Jesus' birth. The date of His birth is not known for sure, however it is clear from the scriptures that it was not in December. Shepherds did not spend the chilly December nights on the hills in that part of the world, they took their sheep inside to shelter overnight and out again in the morning.
The 25th December was a date picked by the Catholic church to appease the pagans who they were trying to convert, but who were not willing to give up their traditional holidays and festivals. Saturnalia was one of the popular Roman pagan festivals of celebration, drunkeness and making merry which ran from the 17th to the 24th of December. Gifts were exchanged on the 23rd and 24th. On the 25th December they would celebrate "The Birth of The Unconquerable Sun."

It was decided that this would be a day for celebrating the birth of Jesus instead. Many of the pagan traditions such as decorating the house with trees and greenery were banned at this time, but they have crept back into our Christmas traditions.

There is no proof that Jesus was born on 25th of December. But considering the explaination of the climatic conditions during the time of birht of Jesus in Bible , it is similar to that of December in Israel. Now 25 th of December is the Birht date of Sun. When one of the king in anceint times who was a devotee of sun , accepted Christianity and hence started to celeberate it as Jesus birth day. It is ok to do so becuase the season brings you joy and happiness and lets us remember that at least once in a year that Jesus live and died for us. And more as long as all the christians do not make a pilgrimage to Bethlehem and die in the rush or catholics bomb the protestants on the same day, it is ok.~(Hope you are sensible to understand what I said, If not contact me)

Arrr, matey... is it verily pirate day already?

It was celebrated then to coincide with a local Roman pagan holiday, Saturnalia.

He was most likely born either in the late Fall, or early Spring. However, since there are no mention of it in the Bible, it is mere speculation, and of no real importance. Jesus' death and resurrection is more important, and those, we do know the dates of.

Christmas is a pagan holiday which was taken over by the Christians who wanted to convert those who believed in the Druid religion. by taking over the various pagan holidays along with some of the ancient Gods the Christians found converting pagans to their Christian Religious Belief System much easier.

The Holy Bible isn't clear on the exact date of Jesus' birth.

Cesar used Dec. 25th to recognize it. We (Christians) celebrate Jesus' birth by remembering His birth and exchanging gifts. The three wise men brought Jesus gifts...gifts for the King.

Grace to all and God / Jesus Bless!

the answer you are looking for is found by googling Constantine, the Roman emperor. When he "Became a Christian" he instituted a lot of "pagan" things into Christianity and most have followed his leading ever since. Observance of Sunday instead of Saturday started back then too. Read your history neither Jesus nor His disciples changed the day we are to be observing. Constantine did! 324 AD

Since we should not celebrate birthdays only keep track of the years of ones life Why does this matter? Birthday celebration is pagan worship to dedicate your child to the gods for a blessing. You actually give them their soul when you do this.
