It is a six-digit number based on the city. Specify the city and the location if you want to know the zip code. India is not as small as you think to have one zip code.

Zip codes are a US invention -- they don't have then outside the USA.
I'm sure that India has its own postal codes -- but since it is a country, not a city, and has over a billion people -- then I assume that it has tens of thousands of different postal codes.
If you have a particular city in mind, you can probably find the postal code by looking up the city in Wikipedia.
