that was the instructions for a righteous war againgst a criminal nation that was given to the jewish people, the specific sins weren't truly identified as their sins were many which including poor treatment of strangers, bad business, crime, idolatary which also included the shedding of innocent blood, and sacrificing their children to Molech.
