My mom's rule was that, to be alone for a whole weekend, you had to be able to drive, just in case something crazy happened. But it also depended on how we were acting, if we were being mature, and if we could be trusted.

I wouldn't say that their is a specific age. Each child matures at different rates, girls sooner than boys. I will say as a mother of two grown daughters, teenagers need supervision. It is like the old saying "while the cats away, the mice will play", except in this instance it is the kids. If you do deceide to leave a teen alone for the weekend, I would definetly have a trusted adult pop in on them, especially late in the evening. Teens love to have the opposite sex sneak over, and have parties while the parents are away.

I was left alone at 12. My bro was in college and mom went on a weekend with the girls. My grandparents and my Aunt lived with in walking distance of my house. If you have relatives or family friends close by or if your cool w/ the neighbors I would say 12-13. If not I would say 15.

depends on how mature the kid is. when i was 8 i was allowed to stay home alone for periods of time. But I would never leave my 13 year old nephiew alone longer than 4 or 5 hours. It all depends on the kid

It depends on the teenager. Are they responsible? Do they stay out of trouble? Are they considerate and respectful of their parent's house and belongings? Do they listen to their parents? Is the neighborhood they live in safe? If you answered yes to all of these questions. I would say 16 would be a reasonable age.

Totally depends on the Kid. Some ready earlier than others. Some are never to be trusted with the house. Some are ready at 13.
If you trust your kid then s/he is probably old enough.

There are laws in your area, and I've never seen any under 18, legally.
