All of us make many sacrifices in our lives. Most of these sacrifices involved the family. Many involved work and some among friends. Some of the sacrifices we make involved our community and country.

Where these are concerned, sometimes these sacrifices are made based on the motivation and encouragement initiated by our leaders such as our mayors or governers. Sometimes in the times of a need, our mayors or governers or senators will make speeches to rally our support. Sometimes after hearing them out some of us will feel the sacrifices are neccessary and thus we will feel it is only right for us to make these sacrifices.

The question I wanted to ask is, how many of you make sacrifices to your community or your country after hearing out what your leaders said? What are these sacrifices you have made? On the other hand, how many of you feel you never need to make sacrifices your governers or mayors have initiated? How many of you feel what your governers and mayors have said were just plain crap and these sacrifices are not neccessary?

Last but not least, how often do you make sacrifices to your commnity? Do you need to do it regularly? How do you feel living like that?

i would like to think so, but actions have become subjective lately. no matter what you do, even if dictated as 'right' there is someone to tell you it is wrong.

I think I can honestly say that I have never made a sacrifice for my community because I have never thought of what I have done as a sacrifice.

I have gone off to war three times, I have served on my community's Planning Board for ten years, I have been a working part of many organizations in both my community and my state, and all of these were things I felt was my contribution for the privilege of living here. It was not a sacrifice doing these things.

I now am a little old for many things that require physical ability but I can still think, I can still write and I can still make decisions that are sensible and valuable.

If there was any sacrifice involved in what I did during my lifetime, it may have been the Time I spent away from my children and family. The many days I was not with them at the beach or at some theater or some bar-b-q. But I think I made up for that when ever I could. They always knew that I was doing it for their town and therefore it was for them.

Honestly I never made any and I am yet to learn how to make them and I wish to start in my own humble way very soon and maybe tomorrow. It needs lot of determination to sacrifice for the society. Community work is God’s work. If we cannot help ourselves, God only save us. That should be the motto. We cry hoarse from roof tops what the society and community or country give us nothing but keep silent on what we gave to it. The whole of moral fiber of a society veers around and built upon sacrifices made by individuals. So it was till yesterday. Nowadays the community service is being commercialized with the involvement of NGOs and so called development activates of the state and those who are up to them purely for the sake of community, maybe to satisfy their own zeal or quest or good conscience are very few and far between and such number of people should grow in number. Only thing that is conspicuous in absence is someone who can motivate such people of such a high moral caliber are not to be seen around these days.

I believe absolutely nothing of what comes out of the mouths of our "leaders" or the media. My sacrifices are made in the name of the people and freedom from a government run amok.

I make sacrifices for my neighbors, my fellow Americans, and my brothers and sisters throughout the entire world. I do this in spite of the words of "leaders".
