i would write a letter expressing to this person that you are truly grateful for his kindness and that it will not be forgotten. maybe enclose something that you might think he would like, something related to his job or line of work................tell him what you are telling us......i want to let you know how very thankful to you and i feel that the words 'thank you' seem a bit small compared to what you have done for me. you are a kind and thoughtful human being and i wanted you to know.............

I would contact a floral shop, they can deliver a fruit basket, man flower basket or something like that, just as a way to say thank you. If he helped you out by giving you money, repay him back with the money and add some extra for interest to the repayment. Maybe if you would get a gift certificate to a nice (not cheap like fast food) restuarant and send it up to where he works so that he might be able to take a working lunch.
***Sometimes, to repay one person is to show that same kindness that was shown to you to a complete stranger that you do not know. There are pleanty of people down on their luck in today's world, help one out!***

Another vote here for writing him a note. I would *not* send money or flowers because the people that do those kinds of favors usually don't want anything in return. But I think you should let him know that it's not just a ordinary "thank you" but a very deep and grateful "thank you" and you could mention in your note that you plan to pay it forward and help someone else out! I think the person would very much like to hear that.

I pay the debt of 10.
Someone did me a favor I ask the same question they told me they were paying back someone who was paing the "debt of 10."
Instead of paying back the person directly we do favors for 10 more people in the same manner. we pass the favor along.
If each person pays the "debt of 10" we would have a world of favor doers and be related as such.
I pay the "debt of 10" lose count and start all over again.
When we do a kindness for someone we are repaid in unseen ways by the Creator. A note, card, cookies, would be nice. A prayer for him and his kith & kin would defintely hit the spot.

You can go where he works and give him ONE flower. That will show your thankfulness more than anything else. Or you can just let it go, he was blessed by God by doing what he did for you. And it very seldom that one can repay a favor to the same person. You repay this favor by doing a favor to another.
But since you seem a little like me, I have to show my appreciation to that same person, a flower to a man means a lot. Give him a little card also saying God will bless you for the good deed you did for me. and put thank you at end. Don't put your name so he doesn't think you are coming on to him.
This should do it. I hope and pray you will be always blessed.

That's so nice, why not write him a thank you note, telling him how much his rak meant to you and how you appreciate his kindness.
Maybe buy him a cerfiticate for coffee or tea at the local coffee shop so he can have free coffee for a few days.
Most people don't mind thank you's when they've done something kind and this is a nice way to show him your gratitude.

Call his place of work... find out if anyone else by that first name works there and explain why you are asking but to keep it hush hush. Then send him a gift card from gas station, home improvement store or restaurant.
I always do this and good things return to me in leaps and bounds. Keep the ball rolling, it is in your court !!

You could write a note, but the best way to repay a kindness is to do something nice for someone else (pay it forward).

When an unknown one helps you, he/she do that expecting nothing in return of that. He/she does so to get a mental satisfaction of their own. You also do so to others, not thinking of passing the favor forward, just do so of your own & then you will feel how it is felt.

I don't know what he did, but you can send him a thankyou bouquet of flowers. Lots of men like flowers. But the best thing to do is to repay his kindness to someone else.
