I have been doing a lot of research on Army jobs, I have over 90 credit hours and was considering the 15q (air traffic controller) mos, but that MOS does not include the student loan repayment. I thought that 31s most suits the education that i have (i have an AS in telecom and 3 credits shy of a BS in IT) I was wondering if anyone could possibly give me any information about MOS 31s. also, i dont have the best of credit, so will they deny me the position, because it requires a secret clearance. Also, what civilian jobs will I be able to get after having experience with in that MOS?

Worked with a lot of 31Novembers..... not 31Sierras.....

AIT would most probably be at Ft. Gordon GA... heavy emphasis on basic electronics... signal electronics... electronic troubleshoot.....

I believe most of the 31 series requires TS clearance.... maybe not for the job, but for where most of those people get stationed

The recruiter can give you an entire writeup of the new MOS descriptions... I am quite sure it has changed a bit since I was in over 10 years ago

Bad credit can be a hinderance to a clearance.... but if you work with the recruiter, then can help..... also talk to your creditors and set up a plan and inform them you are joining the military... they also can help

As for jobs..... tons of satcom.... Sirius satelite Radio, many telecommunications firms, government contractors, all can use you... there are lots of options for people trained in electronics and troubleshooting..... plus if you stay in and at least get E-5, you will get leadership training which can open up management opportunities for you

I frankly would finish the 3 credits and try to go in as a commissioned officer. Your pay and options are better.
