Hmm... an Athiest? I have no clue...
BUT, an Atheist is a person who practices Atheism. Atheism, in its broadest sense, is a lack of belief in a deity or deities. The opposite of theism, this broad definition encompasses both people who assert that there are no gods and those who make no claim about whether gods exist or not.

Atheists do not believe in any supernatural. They accept what science and reason has shown. Now being of a scientific mind does not make someone an Atheist - it is the not having belief - or faith- in in supernatural forces - gods, spirits, ghosts, afterlife, that is the main characteristic.
Oh the symbol for an Atheist on military grave markers is an atom.

An Atheist loves himself and his fellow human instead of a god. An Atheist accepts that "heaven" is something for which we should work now -- here on earth -- for all people together to enjoy. An Atheist accepts that he can get no help through prayer, but that he must find in himself the inner conviction and strength to meet life, to grapple with it, to subdue it and to enjoy it. An Atheist accepts that only in a knowledge of himself and a knowledge of his fellow human can he find the understanding that will help lead to a life of fulfillment.
Atheism is based upon a materialist philosophy, which holds that nothing exists but natural phenomena. There are no supernatural forces or entities, nor can there be any. Nature simply exists.

Too many answers here seem to indicate that atheism is some sort of passive thing. That is fundamentally incorrect. Atheism is an active belief that there is no god.
It actually requires more faith than belief in god, and here's why:
1) Believers believe in god because of something that they've experienced or felt that gives them evidence that there is a god. This is a rational response.
2) Agnostics don't know whether or not to believe in God because they feel they lack enough evidence to make a decision. This is a rational response.
3) Atheists have concluded, based on a lack of evidence, that God does not exist. This is not a rational response because it is a conclusion based upon a lack of negative evidence, not upon any positive confirming evidence of their belief.
Thus, the only "blind faith" is atheism IMO.

Atheism is a religion which does not believe in the existence or the possible existence of god or gods.
It is a religion since this as a belief system which they use to direct and order their life.
It is arrogant as it assumes all knowledge. If they do not have all knowledge then God might exist within the body of knowledge which they do not have.
It is without hope as they have nothing to look forward to after they die.
Hope this helps.

Atheism is not a religion in the sense that Christianity, Islam, and, Judaism are. Atheism is not generally perceived as offering a complete guideline for living as do most religions.
Atheism is confined to one factor: the existence or non-existence of a deity.
Atheism can involve the positive assertion that there is no deity. This is sometimes referred to as "strong Atheism." It is the most common dictionary definition for the term "Atheist."
Atheism can be the absence of a belief that there is a deity. This is the belief promoted by the American Atheists group and many individual Atheists.

As funny as it may sound, Athiesm is a belief that there is no god. So it is a belief even though they (athiests) claim they don't believe anything. Isn't that contradicting? It's a religion of no gods.
