You first have to file for I485, which is adjustment of status and green card visa. If you've done this already, USCIS will SEND you an invitation for an interview. But, this does not happen without biometrics, name checks and a few other investigations that the government is required to do.
Are you here on some kind of visa?

if you want to renew an expiring green card as of May 31,2005 you have 2 options as you can no longer go in person directly to C.I.S. to renew, complete form I-90 include a money order in the amount of $260.00 and mail to :
U.S C.I.S.
P.O. Box 54870
Los Angeles, CA. 90054-0870
Or e-file the same form on-line at www.uscis.gov
on the right side of the home page you will find the E-file line, you'll have to create an account and pay fee of $ 260.00 with a credit card
after you file all you have to do is wait for an appointment
to be mailed to you informing where to go for the photos and fingerprinting.

You are brave to think that they will give you a green card!

I wouldn't go without an appointment but don't get your hopes up! And, get an immigration attorney before you walk in that door!!!!!!
