If not, what religious branch once claimed you as a member?

Perhaps I should re-phrase...sorry for the mix up. "Were you born into an atheist houshold?"

The agnostic at birth arguments are very valid. If you believe that "tabla rossa" exists, then theoretically you are never to blame or be held accountable for your actions (since it's all learned or inflicted behavior). ;)

I wasn't born anything. I was taught to be a Protestant Christian (Methodist, if you want to know). Then I became an agnostic and an atheist after a long intellectual journey. Finally, I added Catholocism to the list, so that I am now an agnostic, an atheist, and a Catholic. Figure that one out! :)

We are all born atheists. Newborns do not naturally believe in God. Religion is taught to us by our parents, teachers and societies. Although I was brought up as a Christian (even though my father was Jewish) I don't ever remember believing the stories from the Bible. When I was young, I went to the Unitarian Church. As an early teen I explored the Disciples of Christ, Lutheran and Episcopalian churches, and I also went to Quaker meetings. Atheism is what makes the most sense to me.

Dumb question. EVERYBODY is born an atheist. Children do not come to a religion until the appropriate infectious delusions are planted into their young, innocent, helpless brains.

I was raised Catholic and was even confirmed. Then I made the transition to agnosticism in high school and finally became an atheist in college.

You can't be born an Atheist as the infant brain in incapable of such thoughts. You can be born of Atheists, but that doesn't make you one. What difference does it make what religion your parents were? You have to develop your own ideology.
