Religious ideas were never meant to be abused. People came up with ideas about God because they wondered what else was out there, where they came from, etc. It is when the religion was institutionalized that those who sought to gain notoriety and wealth used a particular religious system for their own ends. I think that is one of the main reasons so many are turned off of institutionalized religion today.

That would make no sense at all. The authors of the Bible gained very little for themselves, and most of them died because of what they said. If people were really that stupid, there would be many, many Bible counterfeits throughout the historic record. The facts speak for themselves. Archaeologists use the Bible to locate lost cities. Biblical references have been found throughout the middle east. Historians recognize the validity of the Bible. Only ignorant people who do not WANT the Bible to be true call it a fairy tale. The professionals know better.

The bible was written by those that were around Jesus when he was here and not those wanting to get rich off of it. Those that want to get rich off of the bible are now doing it with the big buildings built for worship and the television evangelists wholie and get you to send money to them . I am sorry that you do not believe the bible but that is your choice so please do not mock those of us who have a serious relationship with Jesus Christ and have been saved by his grace.
