Fibromyalgia suffers from me (I refuse to suffer from IT). I've only found real relief from OTC meds and herbal remedies. I take 800 mg. of Aleve and a 1000-mg. flaxseed oil capsule every night at bedtime so that I can walk the next day without much pain, and I take Arnica (a homeopathic herb) as needed for relief from flareups. The links below may be helpful for you as well. Have you been diagnosed with FMS?

I have fibromyalgia and have found that a combination or therapies are helpful.

First and foremost is to get good sleep. Fibromyalgia itself interferes with rest not to mention the pain and discomforts caused by it, but good rest helps minimize the symptoms. Find ways to relax before bedtime, use positioning to minimize discomfort, be sure you don't get cold at night, I sometimes use th warming patches to ease tight muscles. Make sure you sleep in a dark room. My Dr. has me take an herbal medication that promotes natural sleep called melatonin, I get it at WalMart and take 3tablets 3mg. each at night.

I use chiropractic care regularly and that gives me much relief. I sometimes take over the counter Naproxen (such as aleve), and I have a prescription for Lortab that I use only as a last resort. My Dr. also has me take an herbal medication called MSM 1500 mg. twice a day which helps with the joint pains.

Anti-depressants are also helpful with chronic pain, seeing as pain does lead to depression, and depression exacerbates pain. Massage is also helpful.

I take a combination om meds, for sleep, muscle spams, and pain it has taken many years to find the right ones I wore the duragisic patch for years and found that to be the best it keep me stable for 72 hours at a time. Of course now that part D is here they wont pay for it! I found that going to the heated pool at the ymca and joining the arthritis class helped a lot. If you have one near it is great. Find a good Rheumatologist that will work with you, Good luck and God Bless.
