When it was first released, it cost 600 bucks.

The last time I checked the price came down to 340 dollars. Except there were no more copies at either Tower Records Website, or BMG recordings website, Even Ebay doesn't have any available. Did I wait too long, will there be another re-release?
Also WHo has the rights to the Beatles songs, didn't Paul Mcartney have the rights or did Michael Jackson snag the rights?

Did you try Amazon yet. And the rights are in MJ's name, but he has them so tied up in loans you could say that SOny actually owns them now.

I'm not really sure what you're looking for. Are you talking about the big box set of all the original British released albums? Last I checked you could still get it on the Beatlefest site:
thefestforbeatlesfans.com

Supposedly there will be new remixed albums out in the near future. I hope they are mixed better. The CDs that are out now were mixed in the 80s, and are not mixed as well as the original albums.

Sony owns a large part of the rights to the Beatles songs, Michael Jackson sold a large portion of the rights. Paul McCartney didn't want to pay that much for the songs he wrote, he still makes money off of them. The sad reality is in the early 60s, many young song writers got screwed and didn't realize it till it was too late. So currently Sony owns the largest percent of the Lennon/McCartney catalog, Jackson owns a small percentage, Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, and Julian Lennon also have a small percent. George Harrison's estate owns the songs he wrote, and Ringo owns his songs.
Originally Dick James owned them, then sold them to Robert Stigwood (the Bee-Gees former manager), then Jackson got them after advise from McCarteny that owning song rights was a good investment (he didn't realize theirs were for sale at the time).

I can't help you with your collection question but there are a couple different answers to the song rights question. If you mean the copyright to the sheet music, Michael Jackson owns the majority of those rights. Paul McCartney and John Lennon's estate get a healthy chunk of the royalties for the sheet music. (Ringo Starr and George Harrison were also given a small percentage at one point.) If you mean the actual recordings of the Beatles, the group (and its heirs) and its record company hold those rights.

So, although Michael Jackson gets money when someone buys Beatles sheet music or when someone records/performs a Lennon/McCartney song, he gets no money from the Beatles' recorded music.

And Jackson's control of the Beatles' song catalog is mostly for Lennon/McCartney songs. It is not for most of George Harrison's Beatle songs, as Harrison used a different publishing company for most of his songs. This includes Harrison's big Beatles hits such as "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun." Jackson has no involvement with these.
