In secular history books we read the accounts of those who witnessed what they had experianced and is handed down thru the ages as fact.
Is 1 million witnesses enough at the mountain where Moses brought the 10 commandments down that would constitute true history in the Bible?
In other words, do you believe that this really happened, and that thru the generations those 1 million witnesses have handed down the truth?

See, that is what the Old Testament is all about. Finding the truth. Showing us what we should be doing instead of what we want to do. Others' mistakes. Proving that God is who He is through the fulfillment of prophecy. And I absolutely trust the Bible's account of everything as truth, because yes there is history and prophecy proven, but even moreso is that there is a promise in all of that that often gets lost. Salvation, mercy, grace, love. The most perfect father that none of us could even imagine. More love than we have ever known. And you know all that He asks? Is for our obedience. To love Him back. To accept a sacrifice made for us. People are erred, God is perfect, and how can a human mind know more than God could? He handed us a book and proved every word. Get into some deep study of the Greek Hebrew and Aramaic translation and the bible truly comes alive.

I am really dismayed that there are people in the world who are not capable of making the distinction between the testimony of credible, independent corroberating witnesses, and a self-refferential, uncorroberated book that SAYS there were a multitude of witnesses, and yet does not produce the accounts of any of those witnesses.

You have my condolences and my sympathy, Buckwheat.

Oh... by the way... I saw a spaceship land last Friday night, right in the middle of the field during a local high school football game. A hatch opened, and a dozen pink unicorns came down a ramp, formed up in two ranks, marched in step into the woods, and were lost to sight. Then the space ship took off. That really sounds like a phony story, right? Well, that's what I would think, if I heard such a thing. But remember... this was during a high school football game. I'm not the only one who say it... there were 600 eye-witnesses, and every one of them can and will testify to having seen exactly the same thing.

Are you convinced? Well, gee, you must be. By your standards of evidence, I've got so many witnesses that it just HAS to be true. Right?

Get a grip.

But even history handed down as fact and is later debunked is accepted... Columbus did not found America, he never saw it. he landed in Cuba. No one has a problem with finding out history is wrong.

as for your 1 million witnesses, none of them wrote anything. there is only the biblical account for it. and then right after getting those 10 commandments, god tells moses to go into another nation and kill everything, except the virgins. so, no, i don't believe it actually happened. i believe that was used to force ppl to believe those who presented the writing, as if they had some god-like authority

The better question would be why do we concern ourselves so much with events that may or may not have happened over 2000 years ago?

If god acted with such undeniable spectacles back then why doesn't he continue to do so? Is he lazy? Did he just say "i already showed some of them i don't need to show any more" even though we are separated vastly by culture and time.

If god does exist (I'm almost certain he doesn't) he doesn't strike me as being very bright at all.

No, the bible says 500 folks witnessed Jesus
as the walking dead and not one name nor address was included in the so called narratives of these witnesses.
My God, my God why have you forsaken
me. God begging and praying to himself and folks wonder why some folks will not willingly believe this.

No, and I'm a Christian.

Faith in God can never be about other ppl. Ever.
There's ppl who believe in aliens-- does that make them exist?

I believe it's something you should know in your heart. because if it takes a million ppl to convince you that God exists, it'll take less to convince you that He doesn't.

God doesn't want that type of faith. Jesus told the man He healed to not tell anyone that He healed Him. I think that means that God isn't one for audiences. Either you're going to believe Him in your heart, or you're not.

No. I bet you could find a million people that believe John Edward is for real. Does that make it true? I think not.

If you were with a group of 1,000,000 people and 999,999 said they saw a flying pink elephant. And you know you didn't see it. would you argue with all those hallucinating people? Or would you agree, just so you wouldn't be killed for something you didn't believe?
