It's depends when you cook the cookies or brownies. If you cook them in advance, then make intense love to your man, and after he's pretty much "shot his juices"; presenting brownies to him is like being fed mother's milk.
If you create a situation where he's supposed to praise you and act cheery, chances are, he'll find it unromantic and way too "susie homemaker must've taken one prozac pill too many today."
It's all in the timing. Surprise him with the brownies when he's watching the football game and he suspects that there is no milk in the fridge and is bummed because brownies and milk during a game is like a devout muslim praying in Mecca.
All in all, I'll say that no matter how blunt or unemotional he acts, the act of a woman baking her man brownies is in the end very cute and touching.
Just avoid the drama queen rhythm that makes him feel forced to be greatful. If you just sort of subtlely give it to him, he'll be in heaven. The key sign that indicates he really appreciate it is that 9 out of 10 men will be intensely quiet because they're just walloping in the loveliness of the choclates.
Between cookies and brownies, I'd cook the brownies unless you make chocolate chip cookies with be chunks of chocolate and macadamia nuts.

I think that a woman that can cook is sexy. And if after a year, she's still doing things like this for him, he shouldn't consider it lame. Makes it harder to determine which is sweeter the cookies or her.

Personally, having been with my girlfriend for five years, it's always nice when she bakes things or cooks food, I love it! And plus, why would any guy in his right mind refuse free food?
