if your dog is a purebred and you have the breeders info then you can contact them and get papers. and if you get a mutt or mixed breed they cost much less but they have no papers. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO VACCINATE YOUR DOG! they can get very sick and die if you don't.

I think when you talk about papers, you mean registration papers. The breeder usually registers the dog before you buy it. They register it through a place like the AKC (There are so many dif ones out there now). When you buy the dog the papers will come w/ it if it's been reg by the breeder.

The purpose of the papers basically states it has a good bloodline. By registering a dog you can also put in the reg num and find out about your dogs family background.

If you buy a dog w/out papers, yes it will be cheaper. If you plan on buying the dog and then breeding it w/ another dog of the same breed, then you want the papers. You will make more money if you breed a registered dog, but make alot less if it's not registered.

Vacine is very important. Its the same reason we vacinate ourselves. You DEFINENTLY want to vacinate against parvo. If your dog gets that, he will die. When you buy a dog ask if he's been vacinated against parvo & if any of the others have been vacinated. Parvo spreads so fast and will kill them all. It weakens there amune system. If you have a dog w. parvo you need to get it away from the others. Then you need to clean everything really well with bleach. All the other vacines are recommended too!

I hope that this has been a help to you.

Papers really don't mean anything unless you are going to show or compete in certain events. A lot of papered dogs are not "breed quality" so just because you have a papered dog does not mean it should be bred.

My advice to finding a good dog and saving some money is to contact a breed rescue if you are looking for a certain breed. Otherwise your local shelter is a great place to pick up your new pal. You usually have to pay a fee, but it is always much cheaper because the dogs are usually vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped and checked by a vet. To get all that done yourself costs a lot more usually than what you pay as an adoption fee.

Also, just because a person says thay are a breeder does not mean they are good, ethical, know what they are doing, or breed to benefit the type of dog they are breeding. DO NOT support back yard breeders!!! They pump out puppies, don't care about quality, and they puppies usually have health and behavior problems.

A good breeder will have health tested their dogs, have them papered and titled in something, and have a clean premises that you can visit to see the parent dogs and the puppies. They also will not breed their dogs unil they are fully matured, between 2 and 3 years of age.

Oh, and vaccines are very important!!!

Good luck!

If you purchase a dogwith out papes all it means is the dog has not been registered with AKC or UKC or a kennel club. It means you will never be able to show the dog in confirmation shows. You can get an ILP registration and compete in shows other than conformation wiht AKC.
Dogs with out papers can be purbred but the breeder did not register the litter or maybe the parents were not registered.
I had a great doberman who was not papered. He was a fantastic dog one of the best one I have ever had.
The vaccines are very important get them done and keep up with them every year. It can kill your dog if you do not as some of the things they prevent are deadly. Never skimp on the shots and vet care.
But unless you are going to show and breed papers are not really important.

only if they have registered parents can you get papers for the dog - you must have the breeders signature - the breeder should provide papers - the dog would obviously need to be a purebred

I dont understand what you mean by "can I buy a dog w/o papers to save less"

vaccination is VERY important - especially in young dogs... vaccination requirements and risks are different in every country or area so check with your vet -

Obedience lessons are also important

its important to spay female dogs or neuter male dogs - this improves their healh (*by removing some risks that unspayed or unneutered dogs face) and makes them less agressive, and less prone to running away

Vacination is VERY important. Dogs are a LOT of work for very little return. My advice, get a gold fish.

Save yourself a ton of money!
Go to the toy store and purchase a stuffed dog or a toy dog. No vet bills, no food bills, no grooming bills, no training expenses, no supplies, leashes, collars etc.
Your question indicates that you may not be ready for a dog at this time.

Yes, vaccines are important. You need to vaccinate your dog or puppy.

You can buy a dog that is not registered but that means they are not registered....they don't have papers.

Dogs that aren't registered, typically are less expensive.

You can get a great non-registered dog at a shelter or rescue.

your question isn't worded well, but i will try to answer. to me, papers are worthless. they just say that your dog has a certain kind of breedinig. none of my dogs have papers. now, vaccines are very important! they will protect your dog from disesases that can kill him. those should be done every year by your vet. they cost no more than $100.
