I know it is simple, but it is soooo slow and I am itching to get on to the next question. Plus I am a really crap typist!
Just a thought. The wretched thing favours American spellings! Another turn off if you are British!

It's the sad state of the world.

Why do people always spell separate 'seperate' and definitely 'definately'? It's almost as if they can't even talk properly.

Edit - oh, and hey, I was educated in the 80s-90s, and I was taught well, and I believe it matters. With the increasing popularity of media such as video games and the internet that depend more on visuals and audio and therefore do not require you to be literate, people are getting less exposure to words and less practice of writing correctly. I also blame 'txt msgs' for making people lazy with spelling.

This question has been asked a million times and is as old as the hills. Basically, a lot of people say 'does it matter' that is usually the Yanks who cannot spell or those educated in the 70's when kids were told it does not matter. The 'does it matter' brigade are unemployable, and so say all of me.

Many times it has much to do with context of the words and sometimes the word is so badly misspelled that the spell checker cannot find the right word. Earlier today I saw someone type the word "though" when they were really trying to say, "thought". So the spell checker would not have caught that.

I got one wrong, the spell check only checks the first line of the question, not the additional details box

Well they probably are used to Microsoft Word with its little red squigglys. Also some people are just to lazy to press the spelling key. But some people just want to spell things wrong.

p.s. squigglys is not a word in their dictionary. Spell check told me

It's not just the spelling that irritates me, it's also the grammer. They simply don't care enough about themselves to get it right and end up looking as if they left school at 12.

Caroline X : Yes Caroline, it does matter.

Sometimes it does not work properly but I suspect the main reason is that by definition 50% of the people have and IQ 100 or less.
