By plane. Wait, is this a joke? What's the punchline? Seriously tho, either by commercial air, chartered air, or cargo plane.

From what I gather, all you have to do is "Enlist"! If you are on the other hand asking the means of transportation there, The majority are flown there VIA military transport, C-5's, C-145's, And other troop carrying aircraft. Some Marines, as well as Navy may take Aircraft Carriers, But don't quote me on that. I am only sure of the Army and Air Forces way of deployment. Marines may also take flights, Not quite sure on that. But the Air Force and Army most definitely fly the friendly-skies. If you would call them that! Hope this helps you! I am not sure about Afghanistan but, my big Brother is on his second tour in Iraq. They fly into Kuwait and then they drive into Iraq by Hummer/convoy or take a helicopter like a Chinook. He gets to come home just be for Thanksgiving!!!!

Well actually most are assigned to a float or in civilian term a really big boat than they are flown in via transport helicopter etc. Often times they can also be direct flown to the area via cargo/transport plane.

You can bet they don't fly large numbers of troops in and out of Bagdad International. Even though we "control" the airport, we apparently don't "control" the roads leading to and from the airport. They come in via vehicle or heli convoy from Kuwait. In other words, they kind of slip in like Bush, Rummy, and Cheney do on occassion. But not to worry, we are obviously winning and in charge.

Katvic - Army and Air Force also use commercial flights. Sometimes they get the whole plane - sometimes they join civilians on a flight. (civilians that aren't going to Iraq)
