Alright, I asked another question, and people brought up points that I hadn't thought about which makes me need to ask another question... here it is. Thanks in advance.

What is a good amount to tip a mover? Should you base it on the job or the amount of money you're paying them? I have a 3 bedroom, dining room, livingroom , 2 bathroom house that I'm moving out of and every room has junk in it. It's going to be a big job.. not to mention freezer, dishwasher, washer and dryer... it's big.

Would they prefer a money tip? Or would they prefer lunch and beverages? Or both? I've moved tonnes of times by myself, and I've never hired a mover before.. I don't know what the etiquette is.. please help, cause I don't want to come off like a snot or something to them.

I love to tip.

I think the fee paid to the company is sufficient payment, but if you're like me, some kind of tip is an appreciated gesture. Cheese and crackers, sandwiches, liquids and maybe $5 each would be better than a poke in the eye.

The PODS suggestion above is a good one, yet I even have one greater option so which you would be able to contemplate... Our relatives has moved lots with our jobs, and the merely right (subject unfastened and low-priced) of my strikes have been utilising professional packers/movers on the two ends to load and sell off the truck that we rented and drove ourselves. lots of the truck condominium companies have referrals to packing centers on their web content. although, get and examine quite some references for any mover you hire as this is an marketplace infamous for fairly undesirable service (good is nice... undesirable would be fairly poor). I fairly propose utilising movers in case you may have the money for them, yet in my journey the cost to have them surelypersistent the truck any distance is ridiculously severe.

i used to work for a 3rd party moving company...there is no tipping thats required...and actually i have never even heard of someone doing that in the first place...it probably would be nice of you to get them food but it is definately not required...most of the people that get movers are big companies that are relocating employees and rich people who are already snobby so im sure they will just enjoy that you are a nice person :)

I think whatever you feel most comfortable with is perfectly lovely and will be appreciated.

If it is easier (cheaper) to make a bunch of sandwiches, BBQ, pasta salad - whetever, then go for it. (Personally I would not offer beer as a bevvie as they are working)

If you are fine with handing out cash - then go for it. Who wouldn't take $20 for doing their job well?

If you go the lunch route - then ask them as early as possible if they like whatever kind of sandwich or whatever for lunch. That way they know you will feed them and they will be extra lovely with your stuff all day long.

They will definitely like money. About $20 each is normally appreciated. Don't worry about lunch unless you're having some yourself during the process. Definitely offer them cold drinks though. Have some cold pop or juice and bottled water on hand.

Offering a bottle of water would be nice, but the tip is cash. Figure about $5 per mover per hour.

In my general understanding, they don't expect more than what you are paying them to begin with. However, I would buy them lunch and provide plenty of beverages.
