All you need is the name appears on the ID he will be using to aboard the plane. Mostly likely however the name appears in his passport.
If he has a frequent flyer number for the airline, you may want to have that too. That would save him the trouble of giving the number later.
If there are any meals on the plane, you may want to ask if he has special diet requirements.

If it was going overseas then you would need the following to book a plane trip for someone else:
* The person's full name
* Date of birth
* Passport number
* Date of issue
* Place of issue (for example: melb, syd, etc)
I'm not 100% sure on what you need if it was only from perth to bris.
