Why do you believe?, Why do you have faith? Is the prospect of an everlasting life the main reason. If so, is this just your fear of death.?

First of all, why do I believe? Because i was born and raised in this religion. It's quite hard to 'un-believe' especially if you have seen evidences. No, the purpose of everlasting life is not the only reason as you will also find this same promise in some of the major religions of the world. And, last, the fear of death is not exclusive to Christians so it can't be ruled as an absolute factor. Some don't even pay heed to death until they are actually facing it. People believe for a lot of reasons but there's one common denominator- They need it. They simply cannot afford not to.

For the most part, I don't even think about the eternal life part. I have no idea what that means, so I am content to wait and see. Why do I believe? Because it makes me feel good. I am a part of a group that does good to the needy around us. Helping others to do better is highly rewarding. As to why I have faith, that's a good question. True, I have seen much to make be believe in the spiritual plane, but that's not the reason for faith. Maybe it's true that faith is simply a gift from God. Does that help you? Maybe this will... Ask, and you shall receive. Pax.

I'm a college educated Christian who does not fear death. I believe more and more everyday. Look around you and see how our world works. The more I learned about the natural laws of science, the more convinced I became that God is real. I've read the Bible and I do not believe in a literal translation of the word. If you look at the world that the early Christians lived in, you can see why some of the things that are in the Bible are there. You have to look into your own heart and decide for yourself. If there is no God, why is there order to the universe?

Because God fill s in that empty spot we all have in us, that spot that no-one and nothing can fill. No girl/guy drug song party friend material... NOTHING

Even the richest people are unhappy.
Its also the way of living.
living by God's commandments makes everything worth while
It just makes you feel good and God happy and its the Epiphany of love. and peace.
God will give you, what ever your hearts desire if you are true to him and have serious faith in Jesus Christ to accept him as your lord and savior and to serve him daily. There is soo much to say and sometimes words will NEVER be able to explain Why, and for What? only actions. If you REALLY want to know; pray and ask God to send something and to reveal to you the truth.

My own faith came because I needed help in this life. Heaven is out there some day somewhere in the future. But my faith is for this life. It is what gives me the compassion to look at the world around me and see that it need changing for the better, the desire to be someone who makes a different in the world, and the strength to be able to accomplish it.

It is not just for the everlasting life thing.

For me it is what I feel that God is calling me to do.

I am a Christian for love of Jesus and God. I am thankful for the health of my family.

And, straight from the home office in Peoria,

The number 1 reason I follow God:

I realized that no amount of money, fame, glory, and no life of Drugs, Illicit Sex, and Drinking, would ever make me happy.

The Love of my Wife, Kids, Family, and enjoying a fun life as a Christian had done what all those other things could not.

Peace!

If there's nothing after but OUT why be afraid? You'll just go into nothingness. But it doesn't make any sense to why we are here if there is nothing. There's no sense to why there are planets,stars,suns...why we are so perfectly placed from the sun that only we have an acceptable atmosphere etc.How the universe works like a well wound clock, you can't have order from chaos someone had to make that watch.

I see you changed your avatar icon.

I believe whatever I believe because it's inherent in me to do so. I don't really fear death, though I'm apprehensive about it. The spirit world is something I believe in, and "everlasting life'? Yeah, that too.

For me, being a christian is more than going to heaven, I thank God that he did let his son come down and die for us so that we may go to heaven but that is not the main thing for me. I personally just have seen God do some awesome things in my life and in my church. And I have not encountered anyone yet who as giving me a reason not to believe. Peace.
