It's so nice to see someone with a healthy weight loss goal! Five pounds in a month is very doable. You don't want to go for more than 2 pounds a week (first week you may lose more) if you're looking for permanent weight loss and not just a quick fix. It's hard to give dietary advice since we don't know what your current diet is like, but if you're maintaining your current weight (not gaining) you can reduce your intake of simple carbs (refined sugars and flours) and fats. Don't cut out carbs or fats entirely; you want to be getting plenty of fiber and complex carbs, plus some healthy fats like olive oil or nuts. If you can reduce your calories by around 500 kcals a day without dropping below 1200 that'll be a good start. Absolutely weight train at least twice a week - muscle needs more calories to maintain than fat, even when your body is at rest. You can do 30 minutes to an hour of cardio on the days you're not weight training, depending on the intensity - but make sure and take a day or even two days off a week to let your muscles recuperate. As your body adds muscle it will burn fat, even if the number on the scale doesn't change, so don't get discouraged looking at the scale - pay attention to how your clothes are fitting instead. Good luck!

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Let's divide the solution in two parts.
Diet
1. Have 5 or more small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.(say brkfast at 8 AM low calorie snack at11AM, lunch at 2 pm, tea & snack at 5 pm, dinner at 8 pm, (sleep ealy to avoid midnight snacking)
2. Cut down on fats i.e. butter, cream, oils, processesd cheese, egg-yolk,red meat (especially fatty ones like pork)
3. Cut down on sugar (use usgar substitutes)
4. Avoid alcohol (it's empty calories)
5. You can have skimmed/soya milk, egg white, fish, chicken, most fruits & vegetables, occasional cottage cheese, low fat yoghurts.
6 Have lukewarm lemonwater (it slices through fat)
Exercise
1. Low intensity aerobics like brisk walking for 3 to 6 miles a day will get you to your objective and beyond.
2. Alternatively or inaddition to above you can use an elliptical trainer if it is available.
3 Else you can join a jogger's group, aerobic/dance-aerobic/kickboxing classes.
A combination of diet and exercise will see you through.
All the best

No pain, no gain. You need to start exercising more (at least 3-5 times a week for at least 30 minutes) and eating less. This means smaller portions and less (or no) sweets and fried foods. This combination will increase your calorie expenditure and decrease your calorie consumption. The result will be weight loss.
For exercise, try finding something you enjoy like running in the park, playing tennis with a friend, rollerblading or riding a bike. If you are having fun, it won't feel like a chore.
Regarding your eating habits, don't try to crash diet or starve yourself. This usually will make you "cave in" and go on an eating spree. Try to make adjustments to your diet instead.
Keep these foods in mind for the next month:
GOOD FOODS:
- water
- lean meats like chicken or turkey
- veggies (steamed and plain, not with lots of butter and salt)
- fruits
- yogurt
- whole wheat bread (100% whole wheat, no sugar added)
- clear rum (like bacardi) and diet coke
BAD FOODS:
- anything fried or greasy
- sweets (candy, cakes, desserts)
- juice and soda (these are sugar water and are like eating candy)
- too much bread
- pasta with sweet tomato sauce or fatty cream sauce
- salad dressing
- beer & other alcoholic drinks
Good luck!

No fast food. Less sugar, alcohol and processed food. Drink lots of water and eat your fruits and veggies. Go for an hour long walk everyday and life weights twice a week. That worked for me. Good luck!

Drink lots of water, excercise daily but don't over-exert yourself if you're not used to a lot of it. Cut down on carbs, try to take out sweets, pops, chips, etc. This will really help and you should notice a boost in energy and a drop in your weight. Good luck!

Try to cut out sugars primarily, and replace all fluids with water. Exercise as much as you can, and eat full meals and be light on snacks.
