I have a No soliciting sign on my door for a reason... My home is my sanctuary and my fortress and I don't appreciate strangers Pimping anything, especially not their God at 9:30 am!

when I refered her to the No soliciting sign, she began to insist that she is "Not selling anything" and went into detail on how she "Works for a living, I have a job." and "Just wanted to talk with me."

Is this considered soliciting being that eventually, had I let them in they probably would have SOLD their GOd to me and then probably asked for a donation?

I think it should be covered in one sign. NO SOLICITING! What do I have to do, go out to get a sign saying NO DOOR TO DOOR GOD PIMPING too? Personally, it should be a one stop sign that coveres all!

I don't need to argue with anyone about anything at my own front door and personally, I don't call God pimping a job! Go peddle your arguments and the Watchtower elsewhere!

What do you think about this... and them in general

Chance is not involved sweetie pie, cupie doll... I am almost never "Nice" to anyone! Want to know why? Because I don't want anything from anyone and I have no need to impress anyone. You on the other hand are... because you do! Good for you! NOW SHOO!

Yeah, some of you JW's think you're doing the work of the lord. Good for you, you have the right to think you're doing the work of the Lord.

However, some of you have to realise that this is a free society, where people have the freedom not to be bothered by strangers at their doors. (Especially since it was discovered that some of these door to door ministers do not get background checks)

How would you like it (Honestly) if the Hare Krishna came to your door and started chanting "Hare Krishna" in your door?

What if none of those Hare Krishna believers got background checks from their church before they came to your door?

You would feel as though your privacy was invaded.

Well, although I am a Jehovah's witness I can understand your annoyance. But did you ever think why they come talking to people? Its not out of malice or anything like that. Its because we believe these are the last days and we are just trying to warn people and maybe have a spiritual conversation which can be uplifting in these horrible times.

If it still bothers you, you can ask to be put on the Do Not Call list. Which is basically a list they have of people who don't want them coming to their house. And they won't knock on your door.

The word "solicit" literally means "request". Jehovah's Witnesses do not request anything from you, but instead hope to SHARE an encouraging word from the Bible. It seems that this questioner is more interested in displaying a "No Tresspassing" sign.

Another common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to get a householder to "change his mind". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

I notion the present tale substitute into that the one hundred forty four,000 slots were already taken via way of the traditional JW converts, whether that new converts will in all probability have the ability to delight in paradise contained in the worldwide. For some motive, it relatively is relatively primary to them that Christ was supposedly crucified on a stake, and not a pass. i've got confidence they only would desire to harass persons into submission.

One time, some Jehovah's Witnesses pulled up in my driveway while I was mowing the lawn. I stopped the mower, and listened to the guy's sales pitch and gladly took a copy of The Watchtower. Then, as the guy got back in the car with three other people, I fired up the mower, dropped the Watchtower on the ground, and mowed right over top of it.

They never came back as long as I lived there.

I have 2 large dogs. Their barking usually turns anybody away and you are right, your home is your haven. People have no right coming up to your door and bothering you.

Soliciting - to offer one's services, or seek ones views. You are right, they had no right bothering you, your sign clearly said so. And it has nothing to do with you being Christian, it has a lot to do with your right to peace and quiet.

I am not a deeply religious person, I don't solicit religious information from people and I don't put down any religion - I don't care if you are Jewish, Wiccan, tree hugger, Muslim, Christian, (insert your religion here) but I don't want people to try and sell me theirs.

Back in the 70's I worked with some Born Again Christians....all they did was try and convert me, I quit the job.

I understand fully...I have had an influx of similar instances despite the sign ... I went and purchased another that said "No solicitors, Agents or Peddlars Please" My sign worked for me...but then, I also have a step grandmother who is a Jehovah's Witness and I use her to good advantage too :) even tho I've not seen her in many years. I simply tell them she sends me all the Watchtowers I could possibly ever read in a lifetime and I thank them but tell them I am not interested in anything further. They usually say oh good and buh bye :)

I've also been approached by Mormons, salespeople, gas and hydro savings programs etc., all get directed to the sign and I say thank you but no and they usually leave.

Good luck with obtaining a sign and a system that works for you.

I wonder how many were annoyed when Jesus preached about his Father's Kingdom? How many doors were slammed in his disciples faces when they went house to house preaching as they were commanded to do? We are also following Jesus' command to tell all people about God's Kingdom and to warn them about God's war against all wickedness soon to take place, and we also do this life-saving work because we truly care for people and want them to ejoy the blessings that God's government will soon bring to the earth.

I have a good recipe against their attentions:
I tell them that I'm an "independent woman"(one of their own expressions, a very bad thing to be, apparently) and a witch and I intend to stay that way. They are taught to keep away from magic users, so they do and look for easier targets, word seems to get around too...

I tried this out for the first time years ago, after being bored enough to read one of their publications, and so far it has worked a treat, every time.

Jehovahs Witnesses have a VERY important message to tell. Perhaps next time instead of being annoyed you ought to be open minded. Let them tell you the "Good News" without interupting. Ask honest questions and listen properly to the answers. You might just wonder why you never gave them a moment of coherant time befor and actually welcome future visits. They aren't the monsters some fear they are, they're just ordinary folk wanting to share a few minutes with sincere civil people. Try a different attitude next time and see.
