If you are asking why radical Islam is ridiculed more and more these days it is because of its publicity. Islam as a religion is not bad. I come from a Christian background, but I was brought up to respect others beliefs. I don't think any religion or faith is bad as long as it does not harm the people involved or other people. However, radicals of any type can be dangerous. Like radical Christians who blow up abortion clinics, or radical Muslims who kill so-called "infidels." But most people don't look into it that far, and the media is no help. When was the last time you saw something on the news that showed the good side of Islam? It seems you only hear about the radicals killing innocent people. And the media has a great effect on individuals point of view. I hope this helps you, but there really is no true answer to your question.

Many people pretend that they know the whole story when all they've read is the headline...just like this people are becoming gullible by the efforts of western media to make them believe that Islam in general is a bad religon...in the truth its the most balanced religon...so when wanting to know about Islam do'nt ask some layman who himself is confused...ask a scholar in this field for guidance...also there are many good websites telling what Islam really is; A religon of peace and mercy...The websites are ; http://www.islamdenouncesterrorism.com/ and http://www.hyahya.org/ these also contain links to other useful websites...a very good example of an ignorant idiot is the above New Catholic...The prophet had 4 wives and clearly the sleeping part is a recollection of your own experience with some helpless little girl as you are the only one who seems to recall it so...If you do not know the truth don't pretend...and you don't see us degrading your religon....cause as a Muslim its not allowed...all we do is try to reason with your childish claims...You a**hole...

Step one (and this is the hardest one): Abandon the idea that there is one universal truth. Some of the wisest words ever spoken:
"You will find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view."
Truth to one can be utter falsehood to another. This is especially true regarding philosophy (as opposed to 'hard facts' such as mathematical formula or scientific law - though even sometimes those have later been shown to be less than universally accurate).
To understand anything regarding conflict, you have to look at it from both (or however many) points of view. And I mean really understand the other point of view. We tend to just move our own point of view into the opposite side of the situation, and end up convincing ourselves that we are right - without ever truly understanding where the other side is coming from.
This is hard. Very hard. And it won't make you many friends, as it is such a difficult concept to put into action that many people won't get what you are doing and consider you crazy.
If it helps, consider this: very few people acutally think "I am an evil man, and what I am about to do is horribly bad. Mwuhahaha." People justify things in their own head, even terrible, terrible things.
The men who flew planes into the world trade center on 9-11 didn't die thinking they were doing wrong. You have to try to imagine, how could someone be so far gone that they could think such murder of innocent civilians could be a constructive act? How could they think it would get them into paradise? Clearly their point of view is so far off from ours that we can hardly conceive of it. We can't agree with it. But we'll have to either come to understand it - and more importantly why and how they got there - or else kill every last one of them - women and children as well - if we ever want to overcome it.
And I know that from my point of view, slaughtering their innocent civilians - many if not most of whom consider their murderous acts atrocious and against islam - would make us just as bad as them.

If you want the truth,
Google Islam in Iran, Islam in Sudan.
Try to get an answer why their Prophet had 15 wives, and one he slept with when he was 53 and she was only a 9 year old girl playing with dolls.
Peace!

I agree. I am muslim, and there are a lot of internet sites that will tell you about the basics of Islam but, I think it's best to go to is an encyclopedia. http://www.wikipedia.com Good luck.
I don't care if someone is christian, muslim, jewish or even athiest. They have every right to believe what they want and I respect that.
