Doing God's work is an act of service. It shouldn't be about the money, or how much we can make. When we give, we must give from the heart. Where would the love be, the service and the commitment if it came easy? Giving should be something we take joy in, and if it becomes a burden, then we're not really doing Gods work are we?
What we should be asking is Why do people spend their money on the lottery when they could be feeding some kid in Africa? half the world problems are because of selfish people, God certaintly doesn't make people stave, we do. We kicked God out of our worlds, so what more could anyone expect? Why blame God when the blame falls on us. Hey and I'm just as bad as everyone else, I could be feeding someone in africa instead of bying a shake and fries with my extra cash.

Here are some thoughts:
I think if God knew there was a person who would be wise enough to use that much money in a good way--for the betterment of others and not for selfish means--He might just let them win the lottery. Maybe.
I also think that God believes in the importance and value of working for our money. When we work for it, we value it more, and use it in a good way. If we got something (the lottery) for nothing, I am not sure we would see the value in it and use it in a good way. It would probably end up destroying us and ruining us to a large degree.

Many church homes have self belief the lottery is evil and playing a sin so by using taking the money they are going to be going alongside with the buildup of wealth that comes from a incorrect source. i do no longer think in this however. Benny Hinn teaches that the wealth of the depraved would be became over to the godly so from that attitude it form of feels that the money from lotteries could be ok for a church.

First, you are assuming that no curch has ever gotten money from a lottery. In fact, they have. One church I was in was given a lottery ticket in the offering that turned out to be a winning ticket ($10,000). The ticket caused a stir in the church because most churches believe that gambling (including lotteries) is a sin. So do you want to get your money from sin? In the end, the ticket was returned to the individual, who cashed the ticket and then donated the money instead.
Second, in the state where I live, an non-profit organization like a church can not purchase lottery tickets. It is illegal. Only individuals can purchase tickets. We have had individuals who have won and then donated the winnings (or the ticket as listed above).
Third, God sent up giving as the way to finance his work because of several moral principles. First is the need to control your money, not have it control you. When you give, you break the hold that "love of money" can get on you.
Second it is a part of "loving your neighbor". A large part of most church's income goes to supporting works of charity, those in need, etc. My own church in the last year has raised money for a woman who was fighting cancer, replaced a home for a family who lost theirs in a fire, paid for a funeral when a young couple lost their one day old son, sent money for Katrina victims, the Asian Tidal wave, and other such needs. Build a dormitory for a school in Honduras. Would you want to deny those church people the ability to be able to give to others?
Third, giving is a spiritual law. "Give and it will be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over". I have seen this daily in my life and church. As I give to others, it release increase back to me. My job and my wife's job both came because we gave financially, and it open doors and build friendships that lead to those jobs. I have had my car fixed for free. I have been given cars. I have given away a house, and received two (fully paid for) in return.
While on occasion God does let the church receive by "winning the lottery", most often He uses the giving of His people because the blessing that they getting from giving for outweight anything they would get by just having the money showered down on them.

We are commanded to give as we have prospered, out of a loving heart. it is our way of giving a small portion BACK to God for all he has given to us. HE would not take this away from us,even if we had only 1 cent to our name,,. you will always receive more than you could ever give..You can NOT out give God....

God doesn't need our help with anything. We do good works because we are grateful for being saved.

God is NOT the one asking for money, though, so why would he aid in greed??
Greed is a human quality.
