you didnt provide much info, so was their ever a child support ordered before the person left the state, that is very important , if not then you have a fight on your hands and you may be better off letting it go, if their was a court order , i would suggest trying a people search or private detective, however if he is not employed you may still get nothing and if he is it will be a percentage of his income, also if he is self employed it will be very difficult as you can not garnish anyone who is selfemployed, also they could issue a order for support and if he fails to make payments they will issue a show cause hearing that will give him the opportunity to make arrangements, if he does not comply then a bench warrant can be issued on him, but as i said it depends if their was ever a court oreder ever established and if not , then my question to you would be why now after all these years ?and remember people her kid is 18, now a legal adult, she cannot open a case at the welfare office for back pay. they will laugh at her, she shouldve done that years ago, so only option is to go straight to the courts not welfare

I just got custady of my 2 daughters after paying child support for 5 and a half years. Yes you will be entitled back pay. you should also be able to get help from the state and the father will have to pay the state back. if he is not working you will still get the checks from the state, but if the father is not working then that is all you will get unless the father os working. aslo any time you find out where he is working you need to contact the state DOCS ( Dept. Of Child Support ) and tell them where he is working...most likely he will not do it for you...they cant Garnish his wadges unless they know where he is.

Go to the Department of Human Services (welfare) and open a case. They will do the rest if you supply the information. Give them all the information you have on the absent parent. It doesn't matter what state you live in, if the parent works using a social security number, they will find him/her. Hopefully paternity was established already. If not, they will give the absent parent notice and a day in court. It is a long process, but it will work. The state is good about getting their money!

I'm not sure you can even get back pay if you never filed for child support. Now that the child is 18, child support is not needed so I dont think you can file now that she is an adult.

I would think she is entitled to pay back support. Try contactin the Attorney General for your state to find her. That is what my sister who is 17 did. Because her baby's father wasn't around. They really helped her free of charge. Good Luck!!

The state in which you live has depts of children services who will do the tracking for you if you contact them. Back pay is a question they will answer also.

No actually. once the child is 18 the parents no longer have responsibility regardless of whether they are in school or not. so basicly the other parent doesn't have to pay for child support anymore and technically you dont have to pay for anything either.

you're entitled to back pay up owed until her 18th birthday or when she graduated high school (which ever comes first). contact the courts in your state and tell them the situation they should be able to help you proceed on collecting.
