I was about 9 weeks when I had my first scan and about 6 weeks when I first went to the docs.

At around 12 weeks into your pregnancy. That's why women don't usually tell to many people before 3 months, until after the 1st scan where they find out if all OK. Best of luck!

Ring the midwife up and ask them, you normally wait until 15 - 19 weeks for the first scan, as then the baby is at the right size for the hospital to see things. Thats dependant on the hospital, family history, etc, as I had to have scans as early as 6 weeks because I had gastrointeritus and couldn't eat for about 3 weeks.
Sceptical as it sounds, you have to stay on top of them, ask them when things will be done etc, right up to the last minute, as they're not really on the ball! Well, at least round our county!
Good luck chick and stop stressing, just remember, if in doubt ring the midwife, thats what she's there for

If you don't know the exact date of your LMP then they usually do an ultra-scan. If known then it can be usually up to 12-14 weeks along. The sex of the baby cannot be seen untill week 18 and up. As long as they are using the doppler to listen to the heartbeat, and doing the right bloodwork, don't worry. You'll have time for everything.

If you knew the date off your last period you wont need a scan until 20wks. but if your not sure of your dates then a dating scan is usually done between 8-12wks. at this time you cant really see anything from the scan anyway.

If you are in the uk, you usually have your first scan between 12 and 16 wks, so unfortunately if you went to the doc early, it could be a while, if you went later you may hear soon.
Good Luck. :)

Depending on the policy of the hospital you are booked into, most scans are done around 12 weeks after your last period

I was about 8 weeks when I heard the heart beat for the first time and 17 weeks when I had my first Ultra Sound.
Unless you have had some complications you don't really need an ultra sound as early as you are. There isn't really anything to see. You can't tell the sex yet, can't see any organs.
Just relax because soon enough you won't have time to do even that.
