The best way to handle this is talk to your doctor. There are a lot of resources for people with your problem.

In some cases, the symptoms of ADD may actually be indicative of a more serious psychological problem, such as bipolar disorder, depression, brain defects and even anxiety. However, sometimes the cause of the inattentive behavior may only be allergies, environmental sensitivities, nutritional deficiencies or even too much caffeine.

In short, a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder should be considered a start, not an end.

I don't think that there is such thing as the BEST cure. I believe that even in the medical world of add each child is different. But I will tell you my little part when it comes to ADD. I have not been tested but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if I have ADD and I plan to get tested when I go home (I'm teaching English in Japan). However both of my brothers were diagnosed with ADD. My mother did a lot of research, and of course the doctor said to put them on Ridlin. At the time my brothers were7 and 9 and the thought of making her children take a drug was not something she wanted to do or even agree with. But she chose to. My brothers went from being almost the bottom of the class to the top. They both took Ridlin for 5years. They only took it before going to school and when there was something important they need to be well alert for. Now the older brother is going into grade 11 and the other 9. And the younger one is still on the honor roll after a year of not taking the meds, and the older is about average marks...not the bottom. While taking the meds teachers would phone on the days they didn't have them and ask my mom if they took their pills because of the way they acted. It didn't turn them into Zombies; it didn't stop their imagination it just let their mind focus. I also believe that it helped them learn how to focus without the Ridlin. They learned what it was like when it was proper. They were never addicted to it. So for them it was a good choice. I think my advice would be to try some of the other methods, do your research read everyone story and only you will know what is best for you....sorry its such a long answer

First off, ADD is a REAL disorder.. its been proven hundreds of times. Second, just because something like 150 kids? have died from use of methylphenidate (aka Ritalin, Concerta, Metadate) over the past 50 years its been available does not mean that it is unsafe when prescribed at the right dose. The best cures for ADD, when tests for diabetes, low blood sugar, overactive/underactive thyroid, etc. have proven that they arent the problem, and when changes in diet (eating healthier) and exercise (getting more of it) don't help either, is medication which can be discussed with a pediatritian or a psychiatrist. Medication for ADD is THE most effective prescription medication available for treating what it is diagnosed for (ADD).. it has something like a 90% effectiveness rate? Anyway, all the hype about Ritalin/Adderall is made mostly by uneducated people who have no idea what theyre talking about.

Coffee works for me! But I also tried adderall and it really messed me up even more, I worked but the sides effects where unspeakable, I spent a lot of money and did a lot of things I normally would not have
Good luck, i wasn't diagnosed with it until I was 23 years old. I live with it now and it's hard

Acceptance, compassion and support and possibly some kind of natural remedy, but I'm not sure on that part.

Certainly if the person with ADD is made to feel good about themselves and their good points focused on then they will feel more able to deal with things which may well help.

For children, coffee seems to be the best aid. Most eventually outgrow it.

Good luck!

discipline and caffine helps..,I have ADD but refuse to give it to it and refuse drugs for it..,you have to train yourself to focus and to complete things..,sometimes making a list will help with finishing a job and keep the focus on the finishing.Good luck
