Do you think there will be realistic, hard to distinguish from a human, androids in the near future?

I'm talking about ones that will be able to learn, adapt and think on their own.

I think we will duplicate our minds in another substrate (maybe a "mapping" into silicon), before we actually understand how they work. Don't know that this will be a near-term occurence though... can never be sure about the rate of technologic change.
