I would like to relocate to Wisconsin, and would like some opinions on the best places to live for a family. We want to live away from city life, but still close for shopping, ect...Looking for a friendly, clean, and moderate cost of living type of place.

I've lived in WI all of my life. The further north you go the further removed you'll be from civilization. I live in Janesville. It's a rather big city (64,000) with a mall, and all the stores you could possibly imagine, but it has a small town frame of mind. It's a friendly community known for the city of parks (we have awesome parks for kids). We are only 40 minutes south of Madison which is another nice place to live. I've read Racine in one of the answers, and I'd have to strongly advise against that. The outer parts of Racine aren't too bad, but there is alot of crime and poverty...much like Milwaukee and Kenosha. The further you go in from Lake Michigan, the better off you'll be. Where ever you end up, it's a beautiful place to live and we'd be happy to have you!

I have lived in WI all my life. Move to the suburbs of Madison or Milwaukee (I would suggest the cities themselves, but you say you don't want city life). Anywhere else and you will be bored out of your mind in 2 weeks.

I have been on WI once and I went to Racine for a wedding. It was really nice I thought> I am from Austin,TX and I hear Madison, WI is real similar to Austin.

Who would want to move to Wisconsin? I hear they have cold winters. Move to Florida or south Georgia.
