That shounds like it is actually a "spyware" rather than a viruses. So here are free programs for cleaning BOTH virsuses and spyware:
Check for spyware. Run both Ad-aware Peronal Edition (http://www.lavasoftusa.com) and Skybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) to remove any spyware. Run both as one may caught something the other missing. Then go to microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections.
Download and run AVG virus scanner from http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg71free_405a782.exe for free

Do you have virus protection,if not try this. This is great virus protection,if anything is invading the computer they will catch it and delete it before it infects it.(McAfee) you can find it on yahoo. For now go back to restore files,to earlier date, this may help.CONTROL PANEL- MAINTENACE AND PERFORMANCE-RESTORE FILES.I had one where the computer would come on,when Ishut it off,had to get Dell support to reenter perfomance.
