Well, my question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Avg1TeGRAOsmWhZwN6EkuT3sy6IX?qid=20060913114726AAZ8yrD
Has been deleted cause it wasn’t a real “question” It was about the shooting that happened in a college near me – where my sister was at the time of day. Many asked me to give an update so I this is it. (for those that complained it wasn’t a *question* there is one in this one)
As of yet, the shooter was killed & another 19/f student. 6 are in Intensive care – 2 still in danger w/ abdominal and head injuries caused by bullets. The shooter had an account at www.vampirefreaks.com –which has since been removed but his “friend” had pictures of him (http://vampirefreaks.com/gallery.php?u=fatality666 I find it very disturbing.

Now people are judging Goth people, blaming it on violent video games and other BS. Here we go again with the stereotyping. I have a few friends that like the Goth LOOK but are THE nicest people in the world, and now they will be judged because of one sociopath. Do you find yourself judging other based on the bad apples in society?

I'm not saying this to be mean, but try to be a bit more sensitive - this guy has ruined many lives and destroyed innocence. Don't be mocking - it is VERY disrespectful. No one was laughing at Columbine

Funny how Christians who kill their children claiming "God told me to" aren't considered symbolic of Christianity, even though the bible they embrace has several tales about how "God" condones the righteous slaughtering of babies and children.
Minority lifestyles from Goth to gay to beatnik and hippie have always attracted a few social misfits and malcontents along with the majority of (harmless) creative thinkers... it's just the nature of the beast.

Unfortunately, yeah. My sister was a few blocks away in NYC during 9/11. But I'm working on not blaming a whole group for the stupidity of a few individuals.
That is indeed scary!! But I know plenty of goth people who are very sweet as well. And it's ridiculous to blame tv or video games for violence. Violence has been around a whole lot longer than either of those things.

It didn't happen because he was a "goth". I read his vampirefreaks pages this morning before they were cleaned up to remove the photos with him and his gun and knives. This was a 25 year old with a clear mental problem. Music, video games, black leather trench coats and hair dye had nothing to do with what he chose to do with his life. A million good kids go through a goth/emo/punk phase with no ill effects (unless a piercing or two gets infected).
My prayers go out to the families hurt by this tragedy, including hiw own family. I hope they are all able to heal, especially the 2 who are still in critical condition.

People are quick to think that tv, music, and video games told him to do those things, but really, when's the last time the Mario Brothers' voices tell you to burn things?
The same people who claim this are religious bigots. Wouldn't it have been the all knowing God?
I'm really sorry this happened to this college. I know I'd be traumatized if this type of thing happened at mine. The truth is, there is a reason this happened. It's not because of the media, that's just bullshit. This man had psychological problems and it would've happened if he was a church fellow, a prep, or a flaming queen.
This was in Canada, right? I think I heard about it.

I assume your sister is okay? And whoever reported your post was an asss. I was thinking of your sister and the others there all afternoon.... how frightened they all must have been and how senseless it all is.
As for Goths, years ago I worked as a convenience store manager and I found that Goths really made great employees. They didn't steal or come to work high like the jocks did. They liked doing what wasn't expected of them, including having really great work ethics.

Being a goth had nothing to do with it. A disturbed person is a disturbed person and these types of events have happened with people from all belief systems. It's sad that no one could see the early warning signs this person must have exibited.
Very sad for the vicitims

my daughter ... a goth and one of the most beautiful wonderful girls you will ever meet .. she is studying to do child psychology and is very concerned about the third world .. so much so that she has started a fair trade shop at her school
her friend ... another lovely little goth is studying to go into child care and is a sweet shy and sensible girl
my friend .. a goth is a lovely man who has been working with after school care for many years now and is a big gentle giant
i have so many goth friends and family .. and not one of them gets into fights , or drinks , or smokes and they are all very concerned members of society
but sadly many people judge what they do not know , out of fear

I don't stereotype but most people do. The loud mouthed people do. There is not much to be done about how ugly and petty people are. Sometimes I think the person who does the killing has just snapped from the cruelty that is found in society. America is sick. Profoundly sick. All of us.

I did the goth thing back in high school before it was "cool". I grew out of it. I still know many goths. And none of the would ever do anything like that. He was troubled and needed help. I hope those in the hospital pull thru.

I hope people will not judge others by the style of clothing they wear. Unfortunately a lot of people do.
It is very disturbing to hear of this persons character. We have to stay alert to people in our society today who are of this type of character. Yes, I agree with you people should never confuse character with a clothing style. Get to know the person before you judqe them. It can be very eye opening.
