It should take me 20 minutes to get to work, but instead i sit in 45 min worth of traffic because the road is backed up 3 miles, casue of a fender bender....

I don't think they enjoy holding up traffic, they're just curious. Interested. Concerned. Want to see what's happened. It's only natural. Especially if they person doing it isn't in a hurry themselves.
It's like an impulse.
If someone falls-------LAUGH
If someone get injured or crashes----------STARE.

I agree with the 3 in secession from (and including) The Boot, down. I will add, I put my driving and getting down the road before looking at someone else's misfortune, because I'd rather not get into an accident by checking it out. I've had idiots come to a complete stop in front of me to look at an accident.

Why do you? (How did you know it was a "fender bender" if you did not slow down to look?) Everyone likes to blame everyone else, when they themselves are part of the problem. If you don't want to be part of the problem and get to work faster, get a motorcycle, take a train, or even bike.

Most of them are looking for blood and gore - the modern day bread and circuses so they would rather hold everyone else up for their own personal amusement. Jurisdictions don't know what else to do but try to get everything on the shoulder ASAP.

Keep in mind that everybody isn't as smart as you and some people really shouldn't be driving what they are driving. They are in a state of panic when anything happens.
I tell my wife that they are driving at the peak of their ability when that happens.

may be you should ride your bike then... you can certainly pedal faster then they can drive while rubberneckin'... people do it... and always will.. just learn to accept it...if you werent going to work I'm sure you would probably stare too. People are curious.

Because they are stupid! Most people are these days. Just LISTEN to them! LOOK at some of them, too! No wonder they are either unemployed or flipping burgers.
