Women, what's with all these hair extensions?? What's wrong with your own natural hair?

Especially African women. It's like every american video (be it music, movies, commercials,...blablabla) I see, the woman's wearing fake hair (that used to belong to some dead chick! Yuk!) What's worse is that this fashion is spreading like hayfire to other countries like South Africa!!

Please don't take this as an insult. I'd just like to know why most women are wearing fake hair. Are they going bald? Do they hate their natural hair? What's wrong with their real hair?

A friend of mine once told me that women who wear weaves, extensions,... had diseases on their head. I don't want to believe that so please tell me what all the fuss is about.

Some weave what they can't achieve. for me I never bought any hair, I just taken excellent care of my hair and it's shoulder length. Some of my friends tell me they want a different look daily, so they buy hair. Or just for a special occasion they add on. But the rest they rather buy hair weekly get the odd remove and add new. Then when it's time to wear their own hair their crying the blues about how damage or thin their hair has become. About weaves hair that came from diseased women I never heard of it. I heard that woman are paid for growing their hair for others to add on to there's.

First a couple of questions for you:

1. Who told you that hair extensions come from dead women, lol?

2. Why do you assume that just because women use hair extensions that something MUST be "wrong" with their real hair?

...most women I know use hair extensions for fun--to get different looks, that is all. Their real hair is pretty too. But maybe one night they want fire-engine red streaks, and the next, they may want blonde braids. One night a woman may want to wear her natural short hair, and the next she might want long, flowing hair, etc., etc.

It's not about "hiding" or "covering up" something--it's about having FUN and having OPTIONS!

...and whoever told you that they had "diseases" on their head was a misguided, misogynist fool!

Ok that is just stupid. About the disease in your head comment. How old is your friend? Women wear weave for different reasons. I wear it sometimes so that I can change my hair color without the harsh chemicals of dying. I can have a short hair do and long one or whatever I want.
It really isn't a big deal.

women were hair extensions for many different reasons some are because they don't have time to do their own hair so hair extensions are more convenient. OR some women just like change as if, if I have long hair and want to be short without actually cutting my hair I'll get hair extent ions or if my hair is black one day and I want to be red the next day, it makes it way easier to get a hair extensions then to damage my hair.

Well I have never ~ and will never ~ wear hair extensions! Not only would it make me feel fake,but all these stories of how hair extensions have caused so much pain completely puts me off! Women of today are all so false and fake,whatever happened to going natural? Seems all women just want to change themselves these days!! I love my hair and wouldnt destroy it by glueing or stitching false hair onto my head!

Women wear hair extensions, to change looks, not because they have diseases. Most hollywood stars like Jessica Simpson are wearing them too, she adds it to their natural hair to make it look fuller or longer, that is why you see her sometimes with short or long hair, I wear it even though I have long hair, because my hair is liveless and thin, so I wear it to give it some volume.

Sometimes black womens hair does not grow long or they have cancer and they put extensions in to have the longer hair look.
