first why would you want to put your dog down for? is it sick or something? second the pond or humane socioty is probly the cheapest i don't know for sure i never had to do it or you ca just give it to one of them and let them handle it also try asking a vet no matter were you go they will ask you why you want the dog put down for and you wll need a real good reason cause they wont do it if the aimal can be saved

You could have the dog cremated or take the dog to the vet to see how much it costs for them to put the dog down

If it is truly necessary to euthanize the shelter is the cheapest but you will not get the carcas back. It will go in the dumpster with the rest of the euthanized pets that week.

Take him to animal control in your area. This is usually a city provided service. Free for residents.

Just call the vet and find out a price. Let them know that you don't have much money. Maybe they can set up a payment plan.
It usually isn't too expensive.

Vets charge by the weight of the dog. If you know his weight, you can call the vets around you and ask what they would charge. Different vets will charge different amounts, but it is always based on weight.
