Hi there,

While ironing my clothes this morning, I ironed my fingers as well. I am just having a moist tissue on top of my fingers which are dark pink now....no boils or burns though (yet).

Any first aid tips?

Cool (not cold) water is the best thing to relieve the burn. You can also use a gel (NOT lotion) with Aloe Vera to keep the area moist and reduce scarring (or if you have an Aloe Vera plant, just tear open a leaf and slap it on the affected area).
DO NOT use anything oil based (butter, vasaline, Neosporin, etc.) as the oils will seal the burn, driving it in deeper.

Some folks recommend vitamin E cream, or puncture a capsule with a sterile needle and put the contents on the burn.
The cold water or ice is a good idea if done right away.
Good luck!

This may not help you much right now unless you have this in your First Aid, but I use Silvadene, you can get a script from a doctor, it is fairly expensive, but works effectively on Burns.
Ice is OK, but you should always protect a burn initially from outside elements, and keep it clean.

Well you can try butter or baking soda but my dear the best thing you can do if you have time is make a quick stop to your nearest drugstore and look for Dermatop its a numbing spray works like you wouldn't believe the hospitals use it,i was giving it after giving birth PS.a friend

If a blister forms don't pop it! Try to keep the wound clean. You can use a non oil based antibiotic cream if you wish (if the blister pops definitely use the cream). Try to keep the wound loosely covered to keep bacteria out but allowing air to the wound.

Is it blistered? If it is blistered, you will need to keep it cleaned and covered. Don't pop the blisters, just let them heal on their own. When the blisters pop, keep neosporin or something similar on them to prevent infection.

Don't put butter on burns.

I went to the ER with my burns and they also gave me a tetnus shot and vicodin for the pain.

I hope you feel better!

sounds crazy, but vanilla extract. My family uses it on burns (once on a very bad iron burn) and it's always worked great.

the best thing for any burn is tepid sterile water, it possible that you have suffered a surface burn and should not get many problems, however you must ensure the wound is kept absolutely spotless, infection is the biggest danger to any burns patient,,if it blisters do not burst it, the blister protects against infection and will go away after two days in most cases,,
good luck

silvadine cream, ice, aloe vera gel.....you can buy the aloe gel almost anywhere now, make sure it is 100% aloe vera, and keep it in the fridge as it feels soooooooooooooo gooooooood going on cold. they also sell cold spray at most pharmacies now that helps provide instant relief, but you have to keep applying it as it doesn't last long. mine seem to heal faster not being covered, too. hope you feel better soon and God bless!

Put some mustard on the burn for 10 minutes. Mustard takes the sting out. Yes the yellow stuff you put on a hot dog. Put some ice on it and cold water.
