just plain old mineral oil. a mite eats by burrowing in your pets flesh, then it pulls their head out to catch a breath of air, but by putting a few drops of mineral oil in each ear, the mite can't breath and is smothered. this is something that our family has used for generations for the hounds and kitties. it's tried and true!

Yes you can. I do it. In fact, the ear mite medicine I get says that it is for both cats and dogs. I have had another that said it was for cats and the ingredients were the same. I am really a stickler for using care with meds. I am a nurse and I think that sort of comes with the territory. But on this one, it is the same. And I am really surprised by it. I know if the makers of the medicine could find a way they would not have it so. They just love for us to have to buy two kinds. I think that is why they label one for dogs and one for cats. The ingredients may be a little different in some but not in the ones I bought.

My kitten had ear mites and I used Bio-Groom Ear Mite Treatment. It works wonders. Just make sure to remove any wax in their ear and once you put the drops in, massage your dog or cat's ears.

Hope this helps!

Take a q-tip and rub the inside of their ears with vaseline. This will suffocate the mites. I think you leave it in for about 30 mins then take a q-tip and clean out ears being careful not to get into the canal.

I've used Polysporin eardrops on my cat before and they worked well. Comes in handy for the kids too (it's for humans).

Mineral oil
Don't use baby oil, it has other things in it that can irritate and make matters worse.
