I think of my self as a christian, i have stopped eating meat for about 3 months. Because of ethical thoughts i started having and finding out that its not really that good for the body anyway. I would stop eating fish too if it wasnt for the fact that ive read many articles which say it can prevent cancers and the omega is good for the heart. What should a christian do? if he stops all of these foods will he still be healthy and strong? did god put certain animals/fish here for our nutrition?

I think that various meats have nutrients that our body's need. Strict vegans get around this by taking vitamin supplements with their meals, but to me this somehow seems unnatural.

In Islam you shouldn't disallow what God has allowed and I would assume that Christianity would take the same position. Therefore eat meat, but not the nasty processed kind, nice fresh cuts.

Have you ever read the book of Genesis? It clearly states that God put animals on earth for our use. I"m sorry that someone gave you the idea that you aren't a good Christian if you eat meat. That is absolute nonsense.

As far as meat not being good for you, that is nonsense as well. Meat is very good for you as long as you don't over do it. Lean meats such as chicken are great for protein intake. It is hard to get the necessary nutrients you need without eating meat. My doctor once said that the most unhealthy people he sees are vegetarians.

So eat all the meat you wish. Don't worry, it isn't a sin.

The Bible should be your guide, preferably the New Testament, as this contains God's new covenant with Christians. Have you found anything in it that says you should not eat this or that? (I'm not talking about specific Jewish practices.)

My younger daughter is a Nutritionist (having a PhD in food science) and the elder a Pharmacist, and both would advise balance in your eating habits, the emphasis being on fruit and veg., but meat and fish are very important.

Having said that, a regular medical check-up is needed to ensure that you are on the right track, because some foods can react differently in our bodies

I am a christian. There is no where in the bible that i know of that requires you to stop eating meat. The bible says all things provided are good, but not to eat something that will scandalize other people. The old testament tells us not to eat finless fish and things that crawl on the ground. A lot of the requirements in the old testament were for the peoples health. Christ came to fulfill the old testament and He did not forbid any food. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and we it stands to reason that we should keep it in good shape. Fish is good for you, especially salmon. For your own health, red meat should be limited. Chicken is good for you. If you want to turn vegetarian, legumes will give you the protein you are looking for and there are other things you can eat for the heart. One tablespoon of organic flaxseed provides many nutrients. There are oils and spreads and eggs that provide the nutrients. Eggland eggs, smart balance, etc.

I thought your question was really good - but no one gave you a scripture answer, so I decided to try to find one on the internet that might explain how you can answer this as a Christian and have scripture to back it up. I found one that I tend to agree with, which seems to say that neither God nor Jesus Christ on earth condemn the eating of meat, but that we are to eat thoughtfully. That is, with thankfulness, with concern for others, and healthfully. Vegetarianism is indeed very healthy for many, but there is no condemnation for eating meat, unless you are around someone whose faith will be shaken by your choice to eat meat - especially your own faith. Check out this site, and see what you think. The Bible verses they use are found at the bottom of the page.

Im not a Christian but dont eat meat. You can get supplements to compensate for fish, so dont have to eat it. The food we eat is nothing to do with God. The cancer articles are rubbish, we have radioactive waves going through our body, that gives you cancer, because a 2 year old child would not have eaten enough food to cause cancer, think about it.

that question is really complecated.. it depends from what view u look at it from... obviously animals dont like being eatena nd neither do fish, the world moves round people will always eat meat christian or not. It annoys me when certain Christian groups say that animals do not go to Heaven... what kind of place would heaven be without animals?

We evolved as omnivores. It is perfectly natural to eat meat, and unnatural to exclude it from your diet. If you have issues about the treatment of animals in certain processes, then avoid those products.
If you are a Xtian, then you have to take all the bible seriously (St Paul says so) so you should be following all the complex and self contradictory prohibitions on food laid down in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers etc.

good luck!

im a vegitarian and a total christian.... but i totally believe that God is not concerned with whether we eat meat or not- he gave instruction in the bible for the purpose of preseving his peoples health in the environment which they were living in. People have taken what was in place to protect his people in a certain season and made them into religious laws- His worry is your heart and your attitude toward him and toward others. Eat meat or dont eat meat- check out what God spoke to Paul about animals being clean in the New testament. live life freely- that is what he really wants us to do
