That's exactly why I quit going to church and decided to find God for myself, without man's influence.

I think what's important is their reasons for going.
If they go to church all the time to be seen by others as a "good Christian", but they're not so concerned about worshipping God, then it's pretty pointless. If it's because they really want to worship God and have fellowship with other Christians often, then it's great.
One thing I sometimes worry about though, is being so busy with church meetings (because I have been at times) that I don't have much time for friendships outside of the church. And I really think it's good to associate with all different people.

There's the saying, "Don't be so heavenly-minded that you're no earthly good". To me that means don't forget life outside of the church. What good is the church if we're not making a difference in the world?
Where would the world be without people who love God AND care about the world - Mother Teresa, for example.

When me and my husband was in church we went every Sunday, and Sunday night, plus Wednesday night, but during the summer there was revivals and you would find us in church most time all week at some revival we heard of. We didnt go to church just to see folks we havent seen in awhile, but we went to hear what the preacher had to say. I think its great if people want to be in church all the time to hear from God's word.

Y Cymry yn bendant, The Welsh definatly. despite if it annoys me that people say that the final public of the South talk English and then North talk Welsh it is faulty, it is West East chop up in Wales no longer a North South Divide. Welsh is Spoken because of the fact the final public language as far south because of the fact the better Swansea Valleys and to Pontardawe to the East and the main of Western powys to Clwyd and then Gwynedd, Sir Fôn, Ceredigion, Northern Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. All them aspects are Welsh first then English. Carmarthenshire, Northern Pembrokeshire, Southern Ceredigion, South Western Powys, Northern Swansea and Western Neath and portalbot are all interior the south. the people of North East Wales are not extra Welsh than us neither are places in Gwynedd o'r Sir fôn the place i stay has the optimum style of Welsh audio gadget for any community authority in Wales and the worldwide. Carmarthenshire despite if because's a huge county the share will become much less.

Some people feel that they have to go that much to be "good Christians", when really God said that his church is within your heart and as long as you pray and live a good life then everything will be fine. I do not agree with people going to church just to judge others, to be a christian your supposed to think and care about others. If your not doing that then your no christian. Good Luck!

Yes,,you will have those who "Play Church" for social reasons, these are "false Christians" most all Churches have these to some extent. and those who go to many services and classes, they may just be hungry for the word or may not,, you have to look at those individules on a case by case basis, for a true Christian,it is easy for us to tell the difference.

No its not too much, I can never get enough of Jesus Christ and his word. I will go every chance I get. My pastor only holds service once a week, and I feel like I am starving for the word of Jesus. Church services should not be social events, Im there to hear the word and thats it.

I've been to church 2 for weddings - I try to avoid that place - it gives me shivers

Once my friend dragged me there for an Easter thing and my jaw dropped to the floor cause during the whole procession and the women were talking and dressed like skanks. Completely inappropriate! Even I dressed nicely in *ahem* "church attire"

Those people are doing just what the Bible commands. "Do not forsake the gathering together of yourselves"

Those who really strive to walk the Christian walk find that they have to be with other Christians to fellowship and have any type of Social life. The world is a totally different culture. The church is just the building where they meet.

You're funny-I agree. Some of my family and friends ought to just rent a room at the church because they are there so much!

For some it is a social pastime and distraction, for some it is a way for communion with god, for some it is to make a wish, for some to thank for a wish fulfilled, for some it is a business or avocation and for some it is way of life for some it whiling away time and you know there are so many people in this world with myriad motives and it is difficult to list all them and it is impossible to list them..
