Here is a simple recipe that is very easy, put a little oil in a large saucepan, chop up some onions (garlic if you want) heat the oil and cook onions until they are clear, put in your minced beef and give a good stir, keep stirring until mince is browned nicely all over, put in some chopped tomatoes or anything you want (mixed veg for example) crumble in some Oxo cubes or any gravy granules (not too much) add double the amount of water and bring to the boil and let simmer.
While you are simmering the mince boil some potatoes.
When potatoes are cooked drain and mash with loads of butter and a little milk, drain your mince and save the juice, grease a good bowl, put the drained mince in flatten down with fork or spoon, put mash potato on top and smooth over and put under the grill to brown and get a crusty top, the juices you saved will be the gravy, which you just keep warm on the hob.
You can cook in the oven but it takes forever and tastes no different.enjoy!

In shepards pie you used minced lamb, unlike the alternative, cottage pie, which is made with minced beef.
Usually you would seal your lamb in a pan for about 5 minutes untill its nice and cooked, then add some gravy (Oxo) and throw in any veg you have laying around, carrots, peas, onion, sweet corn, bell peppers (although not traditionally used) garlic. Make sure you season it with a pinch of salt it makes all the difference.
Leave it to simmer untill your carrots have softend (about 5 minutes) and add a few extra gravy granuels to thicken the liquid up.
Place mash on top and as a nice touch place it under a grill for a few minutes untill the mash is golden brown.
Make sure if you put it under a grill, not to put it too close or too high of a temp.

Make you fresh mince lean meat as you would for a bolognaise (add some red wine if you like) add carrots and any other veg you like (courgettes, mushroom, peppers) and put in a dish. Top with lots of mashed (with a fork so that it is chunky) potatoes, butter and a dash of fresh cream and grated cheese. Sprinkled a little cheese on the top and bake in a moderate oven until golden brown. It is yummy!!

saute an onion in oil or butter, add garlic if you want, finely chopped bacon, mushrooms, and finally the mince. I usually add tomato sauce (or paste) to the mince, and I nearly always add worchestershire sauce for some tang. Veggies as required/preferred, water or stock if you want some juice with it (thickener then to bind it)and herbs/spices to taste. Into a casserole dish, generously covered in mash - topped with copeous quantities of cheese and some herbs

I use a jar of pasta sauce (Dolmio or Lloyd Grossman) and add that to my mince (I use veggie mince by the way). Grate some carrots and courgettes for added bulk and goodness. A delicious tip is to put a tin of refried beans into your mash and top it all with loads of cheese. Delicious - had it last night and it all went!
