We need a new freeview box and are also thinking of buying a dvd recorder. I fancied a box with a HDD but hubby likes to keep his recordings so wanted to know if its possible to get the recordings off the HDD?

It should be possible. If you put the scart outlet from the freeview box into the scart inlet on the DVD recorder, and put the DVD player on channel AV, then you should be able to press play on the freeview box, and record it onto the DVD recorder. It would only record at 1x speed though (i.e. you can't do a file transfer of a 30 min program in 2 minutes or anything, it would take 30mins).

If you want to check, someone in Dixons or Currys (or any electrical retail store) should be able to confirm it for you.

I have a Sony 910 which is Freeview/250gig HD/dvd player-recorder, it can do almost anything. The current model has a smaller HD. Also take a look at Humax with twin tuners.
